Mayweather-Pacquiao was at it's frenzied peak back in late 2009/2010, but it still seems like it won't be made. Ward against Golovkin looks like it could definitely happen, maybe in 2015.
I think as of now Ward-Golovkin would be a bigger fight than than Mayweather-Pacman. Not that i'm saying I reckon Ward-GGG could do 3 million PPV's like Mayweather-Pacman coulda done, but based upon what could happen in the ring and how intruiging it would be.
Ward is the undisputed king at 168, he is beating his opponents unanimously like Mayweather and Rigondeaux. I don't see any challenger for him at all 168, bar Stevenson coming back down. Golovkin looks like he'd beat anyone at 160lbs, which I am very sure he would. He looks damn invincible. This is why I think Ward-Golovkin at 168lbs would be bigger than Mayweather-Pacquiao now.

LOL boy you a retard if you think Ward v GGG even comes close
:rofl::rofl::rofl::rofl:
you kidding right? I am a GGG fan but pacmayweather is everybody's dream
Few years ago it was. It'll sell to the mainstream, but real fans will know if it ever took place it'll be because PAC will be very wrll past it & Floyd will cry & whine for every advantage.
realistically, neither is a big fight
Ward has cleaned up SMW and GGG hasn't fought anyone elite at MW
and neither of those 2 is gonna sell much with casuals
Pac-Floyd has been dead and buried for 2 yrs now
but casuals would still fall for it, so that fight is "big" for that reason
the event would do well, the actual fight is a joke now, Pac's done
PAC vs Duckweather lost it's significance once gayweather ducked, made countless excuses & ran from him. Even now that PAC is last prime he's still scared.
GGG isnt going anywhere near Ward. Besides how can 2 fighters with a combined 0 PPVs sold be bigger than Mayweather vs Pacquiao? GGG wont even go near Froch.
Bigger or better?
No fight would generate as much PPV/Gate/Closed circuit/Theater/other revenue than Mayweather vs Pacquiao. Ward-GGG doesn't even come close.
Maybe circus fights like Pacquiao vs Canelo, Mayweather vs Chavez Jr would generate so much interest that it does come close. Other than those two, which still include May and Pac, I would say second tier fights, that do not include May/Pac, would be:
Canelo vs Cotto
Canelo vs Martinez
Cotto vs Golovkin
Martinez vs Golovkin
Chavez Jr vs Golovkin(168)
Chavez Jr vs Froch(168)
Chavez Jr vs Sturm(165-167 Catch)
Cotto vs Bradley(150-152 CW)
Marquez vs Cotto(150 CW)
I am going to be real with myself and say Ward isn't a good enough draw to be considered 2nd tier revenue generating. He's maybe 3rd tier:
Ward-Chavez Jr(168)
Ward-Martinez(166 CW)
Golovkin vs Ward
Golovkin vs Froch
Froch vs Martinez(166 CW)
The possibilities are endless, but you get the point. Third tier would be something like 250-350k PPV buys. 2nd tier is 500k-800k with exceptions of 1-1.2million. Tier 1 are always 1million+.
I'd go with the 2 top fighters in their respective divisions.
Over 2 diva like princess patty-cakes that prefer to have there lil fans battle over who deserved more and let the greatest fight probably ever become stale. To the point of being quite literally worthless except for lining the pockets of the already wealthy with stupid fans hard earned mullah.
Mayweather Pacquiao does 2mil+ PPV
Ward vs Golovkin does 1.2 mil viewers on regular TV with the majority of viewers for Triple G.
Ward's drawing power is a joke.
From my first post:
Not that i'm saying I reckon Ward-GGG could do 3 million PPV's like Mayweather-Pacman coulda done, but based upon what could happen in the ring and how intruiging it would be.
I'm not talking about PPV numbers strictly, i'm talking about the quality of the actual fight. Which would be the better fight.
Mayweather Pacquiao will be bigger than any fight that could be made in boxing today.
Too bad Floyd is throwing away his belt :lol1: :lol1: Money is da best doe. **** you hatas
Ward-Golovkin could be a pretty big fight next year or the year after if both guys keep winning, but come on. Mayweather-Pacquiao is still the biggest event in the sport.
