He's been called "The Greatest" and, you know what? He was. Speed, grace, a transcendent ring intelligence and miraculous resilience made Ali a legend in the ring.
Ali and there ain't no doubt! Seriously man, he had the speed, the skills, the jab, the right hand, the footwork, the chin and the heart. The only thing that stops him from being the perfect fighter is that he lacked serious power. He had enough pop to wear opponents down or to keep them off but not enough to knock guys silly like Robinson.
Ali on top of all that has the best resume, with no one really coming close. It's that simple.
He's been called "The Greatest" and, you know what? He was. Speed, grace, a transcendent ring intelligence and miraculous resilience made Ali a legend in the ring.
for me, he is the goat.............
Almost certainly the first Henry Cooper fight, which wasn't in the timeframe mentioned and took place before Ali was even champion.
Of course he did. And he of course knows that wasn't prime Ali too. Its why he hasn't answered. Being called on inaccuracies is bad for the agenda.
Its NOT all about who you fought but HOW you fought! Theres right and wrong way of boxing and some greats like Ali could get away with hands down and leaning away because he was EASILY the most athletic heavy of all time!
Try breaking down a fighters methods then their techniques. Thats how you can have an intelligent evaluation on matching skill levels and styles.
Far to much importance is granted to size because the current dominate heavies have size over their opponents many think its relevant when comparing matches with the greats! It doesn't transfer to Ali's speed and at 6'3 1/2" 212 to 220bs Ali gives very little away.
Frazier fights Ali hard and even............Foreman dominates Frazier....then Ali KO's Foreman..........thats why making common opponent comparisons goes out the window! Its more about talent and experience than wins & looses!
Ray.
You can't really believe Vitali ever fought an opponent (other than Lennox Lewis) who is better than Floyd Patterson.
Hang on..
Common knowledge will tell you that Sam Peter was in fact better than Joe Frazier. He's heavier, so he's better.
According to Klitschko fanboys.
Lennox would beat Ali H2H. He was just as technical, way bigger and had twice the power. Ali didn't have that one punch KO power that it took to suprise and KO Lewis.
Ray Mercer got a mixed decision and Holyfield got a draw, and they were shorter and less athletic than Ali. More importantly, Ali had a higher ring IQ than any of these guys. He fought with his hands down not only because his reflexes were superior, but because he could calculate the movements and fighting habits of his opponents very well. Who else in boxing history could actually predict the round they would knock out an opponent?
I'm curious, what "bum" are you referring to?
Almost certainly the first Henry Cooper fight, which wasn't in the timeframe mentioned and took place before Ali was even champion.
It's always been muhammad ali. Skill, heart, entertainment value combined and you got the whole package. He's the best heavyweight nothing comes close.
Didn't Broner do all those things better than Maidana as well?
I would also question him being more skilled. Vitali has never been outboxed by anyone he's ever faced. That can't be said about Ali.
Just stop posting. You quite clearly know nothing about the sport despite having watched it for 30 years as you claim.... Lol
Comparing Broner to Ali. Jesus.
