That fight was suppose to be Broner's coming out party as the next ppv star armed with Floyd's wanksta persona. Instead he was humiliated and even got the Bernard "Soapy" Hopkins treatment in the 11th round by Maidana who won a lot of fans uniting the ptards, the flowmoes, and the brown brigades into an all out hatefest in NSB.
Rightfully so.
Can Maidana steal broner's perceived future and become a ppv star? He certainly has the style, resume, and talent to do so.
side note- i thought the revenge anal bumrush in the 11th was the best move Maidana pulled in the entire fight. I thought that was a star making move right there. That showed personality, vindictiveness, and style of a ppv star. That was one of the most endearing moves i have ever seen a boxer make.
Discuss....
No. I mean technically, yeah, he can fight Floyd, and therefore he's a PPV fighter, but then what? Lose, and go back to being Maidana?
The guys he can actually make PPVs with, would beat him senseless. That doesn't make him a future PPV star.
It worked for Gatti.

Hell NAW.
Hell NAW! Based on what is he a PPV Star? That title is earned, not given. MM is a C Level fighter who will most likely lose his first title defense. He is nowhere near ELITE. Period. If AB hires Floyd Sr., AB will box his ears off in the rematch and stop him like he almost did in the 12th. Get the **** all the way outta here. He wins a fight against an arrogant kid who fought wrong and he's a star? He's 30yrs old, and if he was a PPV star, you would know it already.
According to who? He's a PPV star to me. His B side is better than most fighters A side.
He has to fight certain people to be on ppv like jmm does. Cotto Lara or cotto quillin wouldn't be on ppv. But Floyd Lara would be or PAC rios for example
Cotto is the 3rd biggest draw in boxing and he's not considered a "Ppv star"

Really easy. NO. Couldn't hang with Paulie or maidana. How the f do u expect him to hang with the elite. Doesn't have enuff power for the higher divisions and his defense isn't that good.
500k is very good. You're too spoiled from Floyd and Manny in his prime.
500k is like a super stacked UFC card with Jon Jones headlining. That's damn good. Manny alone can bring that in against Rios (lmao), and no under card, at all.

There's only 2 current ppv stars lol, hell more like 1 since PAC only sold 500k. It's not that easy to captivate casuals. Plus he's already 30 so not likely

True story. Canelo even said he'd be willing to fight him.
Yes, GDP still wins with Maidana's upset. Maidana vs Canelo, Maidana vs Mayweather, or Maidana vs Ortiz II (with the Garcia drama) can all be ppv's they can still sell.
I have a feeling that if Maidana doesn't get the Mayweather fight we will see a Canelo vs Maidana ppv in March....

Maidana could be a B-side to a ppv much like how he was when he fought morales,,
I could see maidana on ppv vs floyd, cotto, jmm manny, but dont think he would ever become one on his own
To be a ppv fighter you need 1 of 2 things
1. be just a damn good fighter like manny, cotto, floyd, etc
2. have a huge personality ala mayorga, vargas,
If you can combine the 2 traits then you will be a huge star like tyson, SRL, floyd
