Well Maidana has a belt, has actually fought at ww, is coming off a big win and a big year, and he hasn't looked like garbage in his last 3 fights like Khan has.
Maidana deserves it more and honestly will put on a better fight even though he will lose. At least he will make it deep into the fight unlike Khan who gets ko'd.Every word you posted is true but Khan is still the guy Mayweather will fight in May 2014.
GBP should cash out Khan first before making a fight with Floyd. Let Mayweather vs. Khan fight in May and then set up Mayweather vs. Maidana in September.
Even after Maidana loses to Floyd, he will still have plenty of fights left. Ortiz 2, Alexander 2, Khan 2, Lucas, Ortiz.
It's a nice thought but the guys in power won't set it up. Mayweather is fighting Khan in May 2014 so that is the fight we will get. I don't like it but there is nothing I can do about it. I think the Khan-Mayweather fight will make good money. I don't like Khan but millions of fans do especially in the UK.
Pacquiao and Bradley aren;t possible and you know why. I wanted Danny Garcia after he beat Lucas, but he seems to want to take his time up to 147 first. Lara would be good, but there's a better chance of getting that fight if he beats Canelo, that and IDK if Floyd is ever fighting above 147 again. Maidana is the best and most realistic option at 147 for Mayweather.
See, that wasn't too hard. You named 3 fighters that would be a better opponent than Maidana.
If Floyd wants it, those fights can be made. Floyd don't want it now. He is waiting until he sees the signs that they lost "a step", "been in too many wars", "showed enough weaknesses", "inexperienced", "too old", "inactive", "past prime", "fights flat-footed", "no power with his left hand", "140 lb fighter moving up recently to WW", "can't handle an opponent's movement", "all roads must go thru Berto and I guess Broner now."... or a combination of what I said.
Just ask yourself this simple question. Who is Broner at WW that makes Maidana "the guy" for Floyd? That formula is Floyd's. So I guess it's his fans too!
Currently, Floyd is who everyone wants to fight. Right? So you saying that realistically, it's impossible to get a fighter who has a decent chance to fight Floyd because Floyd will not pick that kind of fighter?
As for what you said, it's the same line of thinking that was said for all of Floyd's recent opponents without thinking it thru or not willing to think it thru properly. Latest example of this was Devon Alexander. Yes, he was a WW title holder. Yes, he had 3 decent wins BUT from what we saw of him in those fights, what made you and others say that he is legit? Was it because there were rumors that that fight might happen in the future? Same with Khan in early 2012. There were so many Floyd fans saying it would be legit even though he never fought at WW. Even now, some are saying it's a good money fight. If it actually happens, more and more Floyd fans would get on that bandwagon.

So Maidana, a legit title holder at 147 coming off three decent wins there, is a cherry pick???
Who you want him to fight in May that's realistic and possible?

I can't believe people would rather see Mayweather fight Khan, who hasn't done s**t since 2011, then Maidana who's riding three decent/solid wins at WW.
BULLSH1T. Nobody wants this other than Floyd fanboys it appears. Congrats to Maidana for beating Broner, but it wasn't some amazing performance and after the first 2 rounds the steam left his punches and he slowed the f*ck down. Besides the knockdown rounds, Broner put in some solid work and easily won the last two. And anybody who gets out boxed by Devon Alexander is NOT and should NOT be considered an opponent for Floyd. Are you guys hearing yourselves? Floyd just beat Canelo, he didn't lose to Canelo. Ffs stop making it acceptable for Floyd to fight guys like this.
I'd rather we get Khan-Mayweather, at least Khan has a speed factor. Maidana is too slow and gasses to fast.
I wish I would have read this before I posted. I could have just quoted you.
I know it's like who the f**k is he supposed to fight???
You can mark off Bradley and Pacquiao, the cold war and all. You have a guy in Maidana, who's won three fights in a row at 147. He beat Karass, who went on to beat Aydin and Berto there, and has a chance at comeback fighter of the year. He beat Lopez, who the last time he was at 147 when Canelo wasn't beating up on a much smaller man, he stopped Ortiz. And he beat Broner, who'd beaten Paulie there, and was seen as the next big thing, someone people thought would out class Maidana.
Plus Maidana has a title, it'd be unifying titles.
I don't see how people could hate on it. Floyd is supposed to beat anyone he faces at 147, so now because he's supposed to beat everyone, he can't fight them??? It's better then the Guerrero fight, and the Ortiz fight IMO, and even both of those were legit solid fights when he did.
Agreed. I said the same thing in another thread. Maidana is a credible opponent. He's most likely the highest rated WW outside of Pacman and Bradley. If those 2 fights can't be made, the top 2 most credible fights are Lara and Maidana imo.
Stfu. Khan is a bum
Styles make fights and Floyd would dance circle around Maidana.
Khan would actually do better. But Pac I think holds the key and JR along with his daddy know this.
theres already a lot of people wanting it, him beating broner so badly plus getting the title puts him in that position. broner haters want it cus they think he can beat Floyd with the same type of plan

He's a different fighter because he beat a overrated boxer who went life and limb with a washed up Paulie?
LMAO
Khan beat Maidana fair and square and even KD in round 1, took all his huge shots and didnt touch the canvas
You can downplay the win, but its on his resume
was being sarcastic bruno.
A bum who put Maidana on the floor and beat him
Khan could have made himself legit, had he stepped up and took Alexanders title. But he felt it best to sit by because of the possible chance of losing.
Khan's last three fights: KO'd by Danny Garcia, win over an irrelevant 135 fight in Molina, struggled to beat a way past prime out of his weight class Julio Diaz.
Maidana's last thee fights: KO win over Karass, who went on to beat Aydin and Berto, could win comeback fighter of the year still. KO win over Lopez, who'd stopped Ortiz last time out at 147. Win over Broner, who'd beaten Paulie, won titles in 3 weight classes and was supposed to beat him down and/or out class him.
Khan hasn't done anything legit since Lamont Peterson in 2011, and he didn't even officially win, though I thought he won but struggled greatly. He hasn't dominated a top tier or top ranked fighter since Judah at 140, which will be nearly 3 years ago by the time May 2014 comes.
But but Maidana is a different fighter now. He's not the same guy who lost to Khan and faked a back injury twice to get out of a contract he signed to fight Timothy Bradley anymore. This is Maidana 2.0

Prime Broner gets destroyed by Maidana - "at least he takes risks!"
Idea of 36 year old Mayweather fighting Maidana - "Oh what a cherry pick"

This makes sense. Some folks don't want it thinking Floyd would make Maidana look pretty bad.
This is actually a pretty decent fight if they can make it happen.
