We'll have to wait and see.
People who have the biggest egos are generally overcompensating for weaknesses elsewhere. He was beat up and humiliated and he'll be fully aware that he's hyped himself which makes the defeat 10xs worse.
I don't think he'll go the way of Jeff Lacy but he might be another Ortiz or Berto. I think Broner has more talent than these other 3. The problem last night, as it was against Paulie, he would sit there for long stretches getting hit and offering nothing in return. When he did mount an offense it was 1 or 2 punches at a time. For him to last 12 rounds after being rocked and dropped multiple times tell you something about his mental make up. However, when it comes to boxing consistently, and using his God given talents, he has a lot of improving to do. The first thing he has to do is lose that unbearable ego, then get with some real trainers to better hone his skills.
I honestly truly don't believe broner can bounce back from this loss. It takes a whole lot of mental fortitude discipline and character to do that. I'm not saying broner isn't athletic or has a skill set but his biggest weakness is his character. It's that little guy in the back of your head telling you what to do with your life and believe it or not it shows in the ring. How you can take sacrifices, handle losses, diet properly when your not fighting etc.. Broner got beat down tore up hurt and completely walked through last night. AB got humiliated and humbled on the grand stage for the whole world to see last night. His one moment for me to see that he had some character left (or started growing some )and that he was going to make this a great learning experience he blew by running out and not doing a post fight interview. A loss like this takes a big chunk out of you. When manny got ko I knew it was a lucky punch but I also knew he had the mental toughness to bounce back. Does anyone see that in broner?
AB always said when he gets pushed we will see another side of him. I saw none of that last night no footwork he claimed to have and a mediocre Floyd imitation that he either needs to go to the mayweather boxing club and learn properly or ditch all together and get back to his fighting style thts natural to him. When the poop hit the fan for him you never saw him shell up every time he got caught is when he was trying to look like Floyd. Only time he won rounds is when he dug deep and fought like he does naturally and coming at you. But by the time he adjusted in round 5 it was too late. He already took a beating been knocked down and gone mentally.
AB looked good physically at this weight I must say. But sucking weight and beating little guys masked a lot of problems masked problems for him. I don't think he should move down in weight because it's the easy way out. Rathar see him develop a skill set so if he ever is pushed he can fall back on that.
My tips for here on out.
The media is going to crucify you and you will be the laughing stock of boxing for a long time character development is needed to handle that. Please learn some.
Make a decision of either trying to master the mayweather shell and developing footwork . Or by expanding and doing what is natural to you.
Stop trying to be a rapper. Your most successful at boxing which gives you your fame in the first place go back and give it 100% and stop treating it like a part time job. The whole time he was on tour Maidiana was in the gym and it showed.
I hope Broner can bounce back from this and I actually pray his jaw wasn't broken.
But I'm a realist and I don't see him making a successful come back. Does anyone else feel like this too?
depends what u mean by successful come back if by that you mean the next mayweather no he has no chance but if anyone thinks the guys ego is not going to bring him back looking to redem himself the have not been paying attention. But if by come back you mean big pay days belts then yes of course hell be back i just dont get the heart comments if any other fighter fought threw those bombs last night still trying to win he would be considered tough but ab does it and hes weak minded i dont get that part
only time will tell well see what happens i didnt think he fought that bad of a fight actually to say he does not have heart did you not watch the fight? i think he started believing to much in his hype well thats for sure but just because a 24 year old fighter loses his first fight that means hes done now? everyone loves to preach that losing aint that big a deal you shouldn worry about losing your 0 then a younger fighter loses and everyone counts him out. Maidana said he was best fighter he has ever been in with i dont think he said that to be nice. I also think maidana deserves a little respect no one is giving him any credit just saying broner was a hype job. God i hate eating crow

Could this be like what happened to Lacey?
He looked broken to me...I don't wish this on anybody but he took an incredible beat down tonight.
He can comeback if Hayman gives him Berto type opponents
He can come back by fighting laundromat workers again. Then the overrating resumes.
That was a classic from Malignaggi :lol1:
As for Broner, he obviously tries so hard to be Mayweather in everything he does and he probably believed he was going to stay undefeated. I think it will be very difficult for him to come back from it. I think he should try being himself first.
he is alas....too big to keep that up. He is a welter weight and will not be able to make below as he gets older. I think that ship has sailed...
I personally think he makes 140 easily enough

When he was shown leaving he really looked psychologically damaged. And again, I don't wish it on him as I think he got what he deserved if he was simply humiliated.
I really don't have any idea. Broner's mental makeup has always been a big question mark. Unfortunately for him, even if he can come back confident and improve, Golden Boy isn't going to protect him that much anymore, and he isn't that good in general. He'll be a decent fighter going forward.
Or maybe this wrecks him permanently. I could see it.
