Freddie roach says kovalaev is his top prospect and said "he picture perfect" whereas Jim watt said before the Silaik fight tht hes "clumbsy and cumbersome".
Who do you agree with more as both are considered top pundits.
He didn't give Froch credit for anything. Every round he said things were happening that were not happening. He gave every freaking round to Groves no matter what. He was horrible.
What should Froch of got credit for? Watt saw the fight how most people did. Groves was putting on a masterclass against a guy who was a heavy favourite. I only had Froch winning 2 rounds up until the stoppage. Hard to praise someone who isnt doing anything praise worthy.
Don't forget Roach spent years under the tutelage of Eddie Futch, arguably the greatest trainer of all time.
Not taking anything away from Roach, hes has a great career as a trainer. I was simply pointing out that Watt aint some dude thats never been in a ring before. He knows what hes talking about.
I dont agree with him all the time but i thought the reason he praised Groves so much that night was because......erm....well it was praise worthy.
Ive heard much worse and to be fair was he supposed to praise Froch for stuff he didnt do in the fight. Froch looked like garbage that night and Groves looked great and most of the people who watched that fight agree.
Sure he sounds like a miserable f**k most of the time but he cant help it..... he's Scotish lol

There's a video analysis: "Sergey Kovalev confirms Floyd Mayweather Sr's Theory that Speed Ain't Nuthin but Timing vs Sillakh" (by Barry Robinson)...
It somehow explains Kovalev's "clumsiness"...

If Kovalev is that "clumsy and cumbersome" why don't they crowd to fight him and make him look awful?
Saying that Roach forgot more than Watt will ever know is a terrible overstatement. Watt was a lightweight world champion and faced some good competition. I dont really see why people are complaining about the Froch/Groves commentary either

Watt was the lightweight champ and went the distance with Arguello so he deserves respect for that. But his commentary in the Froch-Groves fight was appalling.

i don't listen to jim watt as much as the guys from the UK, but i listen to him a decent amount.
roach can hardly talk, so he's not a great guy on TV, but he forgot more about boxing in the last year than watt will ever know.
i don't even know what jim watt did in boxing. roach is the guy who taught manny pacquiao how to fight.

Kovalev is not perfect, but he is really good. Barry Robinson had a nice breakdown of the fight between Kovalev and Sillakh.
I lean more towards Freddie.
Kovalev looks clumsy but he knows what he's doing. I think that's the reason why he was able to get so many high profile fights even though he's a monster. Matchmakers look at him on tape and they see a guy who doesn't look that skilled, but obviously it's very misleading.
If you watched kovalev against sillakh he threw his jab right after sillakh threw a punch it looked like they threw at the same time but you could see he was waiting he was timing him and eventually caught him
i lost some respect for jim watt after his disgustingly bias commentary in froch-groves.
I feel exactly the same.
He doesn't really try to hide that he isn't froch's biggest fan.
Horrible commentary during that fight.
