Back in his prime, Pac didn't even care about defense because no one dare punch back after eating so many lefts and covering up. Pac vs Cotto was aptly titled "Firepower" after that fight I had no doubt nobody beats Pac in a punch fight no matter who he is.
Not the best, but he's up there. He was just so fast and so hard to stop in his prime, despite a limited arsenal. Mostly just threw the straight left, but where and how was he going to throw it? And he was one of the best when he started letting those hands fly.
Built a career off a simple 3 punch combo that you've seen done in better "technical" form by 8 year olds but, why anyone couldn't beat it?(Okay he got knocked out by bodyshots and Morales/Marquez happened but) Who knows.
Right up there with the best. His offensive abilities masked defensive shortcomings.
The best form of defense is attack is the famous saying. Pac was too busy knocking people out no one could ko him out. But it backfires once in a while. But very rarely with Pac did it backfire.
Pac is GOAT material offensive wise. Roach has trained them all and he ranks Pac as the best hes trained.
Man he is right up there as one of THE GREATEST OFFENSIVE fighters of all time. His hand speed is almost second to none of all fighters I've seen in 20+ years. I'd rank him right up there with Tyson, Robinson, LaMotta, Dempsey, Louis, Duran and co. Seriously, the greatest offensive fighter since a young Tyson, that's no mean feat.
I know that those on the Floyd side of the fence are supposed to say that he's second tier offensively or not anything special, but you gotta just step aside for a moment from the anti-Pacquiao sentiment and give props to what he has displayed in his career with those hands of his.
Say what you will about the other aspects of his fight game, but game should recognize game regardless what side of the fence you reside. The dude's offensive skills are utterly ridiculous. In his prime he was one of the most blazing, ferocious offensive fighters the game has ever seen.
I'm not a Floyd fan but I don't hate on the man's skills. I'll be the first one to say that Floyd is arguably the best defensive fighter of all-time and is a master boxer.
Extremely high, among Tyson and Robinson. He had blazing handspeed, fast footwork, and rapid combinations. He was also a tenacious dog in his prime.
All boxing politics aside - Pacquiao is one of the epitomes of an awkward and relentless style.
If he would have taken the test people could honestly answer that question. But since its known that he is a chronic roid user he ranks up there with the biggest catch weight, roid users, Floyd Mayweather ducker of all time.....
