Pursue Adonis Stevenson ASAP. Go up to 175 and fight him this Spring, win the lineal title there. Let Pascal/Bute play out, and let Kovalev possibly fight another contender. Maybe a Chad Dawson, Chillemba, or something.
Then after handling Adonis, fight those two winners of those fights in his next two fights. By this time, it'd be the second half of 2015 most likely, Ward would be 31, and fighters at 168 like Groves could be looking to move up, and other names will have most likely entered into the contender list.
But knowing Ward lately.....he'll fight someone meh at 168 next, a decent contender like Edwin but nothing special.
.....Uhhhhh yeah there is. At the time it was horrible. We've since seen Marquez knock out one of the best fighters at 147. It's not a great win, but I mean Floyd deserves a little bit of credit for completely shutting him out.
By those standards, you'd be acceptable with Floyd fighting Kell Brook??? And undefeated WW who's Top 10 at 147 but hasn't done s**t......Yeah you wouldn't.
Don't try to tell me what I wouldn't do, I'd favor Floyd/Brook far more than Floyd/Khan that's for sure.
But no, Floyd gets no credit because Marquez destroyed Pacman. None, Marquez gets credit for that.
Of course he did to Bush. I'll admit Marquez was a HORRIBLE fight. Given what's happened since, Floyd deserves a little credit for completely making him look like an amateur.
But Bush defends Ward fighting Dawson 7 lbs south of his solid weight, and fighting a decent fight against Edwin Rodriguez, but will probably bash Floyd fighting Mosley, Ortiz, Cotto, Guerrero, Canelo all when they logical opponents coming off good wins and/or fights people wanted to see at the time.
He himself wanted to see them at the time :lol1:
Only one he didn't want to see was the Canelo fight as it was at a catchweight.
He picked Mosley and Ortiz to beat Mayweather.
Made a thread about how Mayweather should fight Cotto at 154.
And also expressed that the Guererro fight would be a good fight.
Before Mayweather's fights he either picks Mayweather to lose, asks him to fight them or calls it a good fight but some how he's also a cherrypicker at the same time? :lol1: Literally makes no sense.
ward is just another mayweather. he will only fight certain guys. he already turned down bute and stevenson. southpaws with good lefts what a surprise! just like mayweather! what he needs to do is stop being a b-itch and what hbo needs to do is stop paying him 2 million dollars for terrible fights that don't even do well in the ratings.
Mayweather did not cherrypick.

No, there is no "in retrospect'. Floyd/Marquez was an absolutely horrible disgrace/spectacle of an event/affair. Marquez came up sloppily 2 weight classes only to be cheated on the scale.
Ward had shoulder surgery fighting an undefeated fighter in his own weight-class.

In retrospect, Floyd-Marquez is much better victory for Floyd though, given what Marquez did at the weight since. Unless Rodriguez goes on to do great things, it'll be a meh pointless fight, a decent one at best.

The only fight you could even compare of Ward and Floyd with definite sense is Floyd/Marquez to Ward/Rodriquez.
And I'll tell you right now, Ward/Rodriquez was a far better fight in regard of standing, period.
My point stands though. You simply can't defend Floyd and try to criticize Ward when Ward hasn't even cherry picked yet.

he has always said he intends to move up to 175. i saw an interview with him quite recently where he said he wanted to move up instead of fighting rdriguez but virgil hunter talked him out of it saying he will grow into the division naturally and just needs to be patient.
i agree with hunter btw, ward is already the best super middleweigt in history so why not keep building on that and move up when the time is right? there are still fights for him out there, i expect him to fight anthony dirrell after he beats bika which is a good fight.
not saying he should stay at 168 forever, 2-4 more fights and he should move up imo. i think he will have grown into the division by then.
4 times is a bit too much, especially since there isn't really any big fights left at 168. I think Ward will fight two more times at SMW before moving up to LHW maybe around 2015.
GGG can fight at 168 though. It's not like Golovkin is fighting anyone of note at 160 since the name middleweights won't step in there with him.
Yeah there's no way I can see Ward going down (am I correct in thinking he fights pretty heavy for a SMW anyway?) - if GGG - Ward was to be made it is a 168 fight, but I can see the maths for Ward, in terms of popularity Froch or even Stevenson is gonna bring him more money (though Chav Jr might do even better whilst almost at this point being a joke fight IMO).
I dont think Ward can make 160 without being as drained as Dawson was at 168 so Ward fans should forget it.

I'm gonna agree and disagree with both here.
1. I do not agree with Ward's resume being weak, Bushbaby I agree with you that Ward's resume is very solid. Even this win that is being bashed as weak is actually a very good win.
2. Floyd Mayweather has fought the best fighters out there that he realistically could have fought, in other words barring Top Rank fighters, whom he just can't deal with that promoter because of their bitter breakup.
I'm really not getting where you disagree.
Ward is not a cherry picker he like Floyd at that age is trying to figure out how to become a PPV attraction. The Only fight that gets him there right away is Chavez.
As much as people like GGG or Kovalev they are not big draws so the fights won't generate him more money than fighting a guy like Rodriguez.
Froch is a name, along with Bute and Pascal.
Hopkins could have been on PPV but he is on Showtime.

the prince doesn't go under 168. fatten them up a bit and let them come to 168.
and kovalev and steven are gonna have to head down from 175. they're worthy contenders to lord ward's lineage, they're just not allowed to eat or drink before the fight :lol1:
i would pay $60 to see golovkin - ward.
same with krusher kovalev and pimp steven.
"Pimp Steven" should use this as his Theme music.
May aswell embrace it.

I'm sure a lot of people would. That's why its a good business decision to get that money fight before he moves up. Cash in on GGG, Chavez Jr. and Kovalev/Stevenson.
If he moves up now he only gets 1 of those 3.
What Ward should do is take the fights that will make him the most money. This is a business after all.
But whatever he decides I hope he doesn't move up until he derails the GGG hype train.
