Im sort of piggy backing off another thread here, but what are the top 5 fights you've attended. Doesn't matter the reasons, just your personal opinions.
1. Toney-Jirov: Was ringside for this and it really needs no explanation. 2nd greatest cruiserweight fight ever and a classic!
2. Lewis-Briggs: Recognized champion vs lineal champion. Got to witness a future heavyweight top 10 ATG and met George Foreman as well.
3. Pazienza-Dele: Paz won the WBA 154 title that night in front of his home crowd and I've never been to a fight as loud. The building was literally shaking.
4. Hamed-Sanchez: Love him or hate him, seeing the prince was great! An electric atmosphere and a knockout that sounded like a gunshot.
5. Jones-Griffin 2: Over before it started. Anytime you get to see a future ATG is a treat though!
I don't get to as many fights as I would like, but I was at Cotto-Jennings, Lopez-Luevano, Gamboa-Matagwa (Gamboa live was pretty fun) and Martinez-Williams 2. Being there for that Martinez KO over Williams was incredible. It seemed like it took P-Will a whole minute to fall down. I also got the pleasure of meeting Sergio and getting a picture with him afterward. He's a very nice guy and easy to approach. I've been to some FNF cards as well.
On a side note, if Cotto and Martinez fight at MSG, I'll be there.
I would make the trip to see Cotto-Martinez too. Thats a big event right there. Probably get attacked by Cotto fans lmao
Now I get a chance to show off, but I don't think I can list them in any particular order:
Hagler v Duran
Hagler v Leonard
Holyfield v Bowe 1
Whitaker v Chavez Sr.
Barkley v Hearns
That's just a tip of the iceberg, there were some great fights I managed to weasle my way into during the 80s and 90s and in recent years I've managed to see some big events but sadly they have never lived up to the hype.
Mayweather v Oscar was such a big event and should have fascinated the sporting public but it never lived up to expectations Calzaghe against Hopkins should have been a clash of true legends...again the fight died a slow and pathetic death.
home slice thats a heck of a list
I've only been to fights in the UK:
Froch v Pascal
Haye v Audley (got free tickets for that one lol)
Hatton v Tszyu
Fury v Chisora
So not so bad and a fair few small cards at places like yorkhall.
It's tough to say. It's late at night here and I'm drawing a blank, even though I've seen a lot of fights live. Here are two that I remember. My fights aren't as memorable as the original poster's though.
Pacquiao-Marquez IV - A historic knockout, and an outrageous crowd. Time stopped when Pacquiao went down, and I remember each moment in slow-motion afterwards.
Hopkins-Murat - Sure, it wasn't Barrera-Morales, but the fans were enjoying what turned out to be a surprisingly good fight. Was incredible to witness Hopkins in the corner ducking and slipping Murat's shots, then beat him around the ring.

Dude, you're British! I'd love to be in the crowd at a good fight in the UK, you guys have the best fans!
Yeah mate, iv'e experienced some pretty good atmospheres..kick myself that i never got to a Hatton fight though. I missed out there.
Hopefully i can get over to America again one day for a fight. Would love to take in a fight at Madison Square Garden.
I met Winky Wright once at Foxwoods in Cedars steak house, very cool guy.
Imagine if Cotto had ever fought Hatton at MSG? The place might not have been left standing.
I agree 100% it would've been absolutely nuts. My girls brother met Winky once also and said same thing he down to earth and a cool guy.
I'm from Chicago so not too many big fights here so I have to travel anytime I go to fights. I've only been to 6 but of those my top 5 are:
1- Cotto vs Marg 2 ( crazy atmosphere at MSG for Cotto. Like being at a home game for Blackhawks vs Redwings in Chicago)
2- Pac vs Hatton. ( Seeing pacs speed in person is almost unreal)
3- Mayweather vs Hatton ( Mays skill is just nuts, and Hattons fans make each fight of his a great time)
4- Winky Wright vs Mosley 1 ( Winky is one of my all time fav fighters. Great skill and ring intelligence not to mention defense )
5- Cotto vs Judah. ( Cottos biggest W at that point of career. Again as said b4 nothing like a Cotto fight in MSG)

Pacquiao Vs Cotto is the only overseas fight i've been to.
I've been to cards involving the likes of Haye, Khan, Barrera, Brook, Bellew, Groves, Burns, Cleverly, Macklin...Nothing stand out or as spectacular as some of the fights mentioned in this thread.
I'm jealous of the fights some of you guys have attended :boxing:

Wow, you guys are hardcore. I thought I was cool as a kid watching Tyson vs Holyfield I on tv and yet you guys were actually there at the fights. I've never been to a fight in real life. I suppose I'm not as hardcore of fan as some of you.
You can be just as much a hardcore fan watching it on tv. Seeing it live though is a great experience with a different perspective.
ahhh man I love that fight. Every time I watch it I'm envious of the people there, some of those seats looked like they were right on the ring at eye level
It use to be called the Fox theater in Foxwoods casino. Only held maybe 2, 3 thousand people but it was the best place to see a fight. Even the bad seats were great! Got to meet Willie Pep there too!

Carbajal - Gonzalez I (my first live fight as a youngster)
Pacquiao - Morales I
Barerra - Morales I
Margarito - Cotto I
Marquez - Vasquez III
hard to leave these out so, here are the honorable mentions
Barerra - Morales III
Mayweather - Judah (always wanted to be at one of those "only in boxing" events )
Pacquiao - Marquez II
Pacquiao - Morales III
Williams - Margarito
Arce-Hussein Hussein on the undercard of Pac-Morales I
You west coast guys got it going on when it comes to seeing the little guys. Great list!
