Yea I thought the same until Bellew decided to get back on his bicycle and let Adonis control the ring. Bellew was fighting better coming forward and applying pressure. He was just getting T'ed off on circling around the ring trying to counter Adonis's left hand.
Yep. Exactly what I saw too. HBO was saying Bellew's best shot was to go backwards, but the only time Bellew really did anything was when he came forward and backed Adonis up.
I agree, its a 50/50 fight.Adonis Stevenson is very underrated on this board,Its funny how people want to highlight Stevenson flaws but say nothing about Kovalev`s flaws.Kovalev struggled against Sillakh and got hurt by Sillakh in the first round.I gave Sillakh the first round;the problem with Sillakh is that he has a weak Chin.Adonis Stevenson has a far better chin then Sillak so i think Adonis Stevenson vs Kovlev would be competitive and would last a lot longer then Kovlev vs Sillakh.
lol what...??
They both can beat each other. Stevenson is scared of kovalev. Both are crazy strong but I think Stevenson is more versatile. I like how Stevenson goes to the body. Meanwhile kovalev is a power house that will walk through u and smash u. Anyone's fight really, but since Adonis is scared I will pick kovalev!
Hard to pick, both are have suspect chins, Stevenson was KTFO by Boone, while Kovalev was hurt, down, and barely won a SD against him.
Does Ward have a suspect chin as well?
Kovalev struggled against Sillakh? If anything, Adonis struggled a shade against Bellew - for a moment there it looked like Bellew had a shot at an upset.

I think you have to be a little better than Stevenson to handle Kovalev, and would pick Sergey. That being said, I wish we could see what happens when someone survives that initial onslaught, and Stevenson might be that guy.
Fight needs to happen.

I think I'm going to have to go with Stevenson, he seems like the much harder man to hit. Kovalev on the other hand is stiff, not really any upper body movement, his offense is his defense. Stevenson's movement gives him trouble and he gets KO'd IMO.
Either way the fight doesn't go the distance.
I'm not sold on Kovalev either, 3 past opponents were tailor made for him.
-Sillakh, horrible chin, been KO'd in both the pros and AM's
-Cleverly, his game plan was to be a human punching bag lol, he was also a very poor boxer.
-Campillo, chinny, and a slow starter, perfect for Kovalev.
if these guys are chinny what is chad dawson? he was ko'd by pillow punching ward and ko'd in 1 freaking punch by stevenson. GLASS! even bellew who doesn't have a great chin took a bunch of clean shots before being ko'd.

Let's look at Stevenson's last 3 opponents :
-Bellew, nothing more than a solid contender who lost to Cleverly (although it was close)
-Cloud, schooled by Hopkins, schooled by Campillo, was losing to Mack before the KO.
-Dawson, was coming off a TKO loss during which he took a lot of punishment while being weightdrained. And he was nearly KO'd by Miranda while training for the Ward fight.

He didn't struggle he was actually right there with Ismayl in the first round, and he didn't get hurt he lost his balance while Ismayl missed a punch and cuffed him with his wrist.

Boone KO'd Stevenson. :pat:
He ko`ed a green Stevenson. After that Stevenson changed his trainer to Emmanuel Steward ,then later Emanuel Stewards Nephew because Steward got sick. Then later Stevenson improved then Stevenson avenged his lost to Boon.
50/50 fight. I don't get how anyone can pick the other so convenietly when they both have KO power and skills. One of the hardest fight to predict ever.

Stevenson doesn't want Kovalev. He made that abundantly clear in the post-fight interview with Kellerman.
Of course. Stevenson knows his chin won't be able to take Kovalev's power and he's also six years older than Kovalev which doesn't help him. Stevenson is too open sometimes and Kovalev will catch him.
