Ideally no fanboys, i just want to know most of you guys thoughts on pacquiao 3 years ago compared to now.
In my opinion, pac vs marquez 3 and pac vs bradley is were pac looked like he wasnt really interested but imo still won both fights regardless. Against marquez 4, imo it was pac's best performance since margarito, till he got careless. And, even though it was against rios, he fought tremendously well in the that fight, and his speed was definitely still there.
Im curious to see what you guys think? Has pac decreased, if so in what way? Is pacs still the same?
HOF yes.
Just don't respect his boxing ability which will never make you 'great' in my eyes.
Just like my earlier posts here..I've also made a little rap for you floyd buttsmoochers
You been the number 1 manny hater for years and years,
But things add up and you've had too many beers,
And all those @nals with Floyd caused too many tears,
So you take you're anger out on manny, well that's how it appears.
We all know that's the guy who Floyd really fears.
HOF yes.

dude what are you talking about,,,
manny is an ATG,, the only guy that would be favored to beat him= floyd is also an ATG...
Manny and floyd are both 2 of the greatest fighters i have ever seen,,
You must not have been watching boxing very long if you dont think manny is great
utter nonsense

I think he did what he needed to do vs Rios, however I thought he looked much slower than what he used to and he did not have the power that he once showed. Rios is a brawler who comes straight forward with no head movement and no idea how to cut off the ring. Pac gave him angles and scored at will but by no means did he show the same speed, power, and explosiveness that he once did. I think pac better go fire his most lucrative option for his next fight because I believe his elite days are over.
Pacquiao is an easy HOF ATG.
Saying pacquiao was never great is nonsense.

I don't think Pacquiao has slowed down that much, his speed is still there. Foot work still great, Rios said his punches didn't hurt but he was rocking the sun glasses all weekend and in all the interviews I've seen. Rios also had his gloves on his face all night so...
The Pacquiao that fought Juan the 4th time looked great until ktfo6
I think Pacquiao is still capable of that, and it seems he fights better when he gets tagged. He just fought a smart fight against Rios
I understand where you are coming from{alot of people feel this way}. The fight would have been very competative In 2008-2009 and truthfully I think It still would be. Pacquiaos speed Is still enough to give Mayweather fits. I think Pac can win 4-5 rounds but will end up losing a close decision. As much as I dislike Mayweather and his arrogance he would deserve credit for beating Manny.
Yeah exactly this.
Cherrypicker waited for Pac to be past his prime... should Cherrypicker win, I won't give him any credit. I don't really care if the fight happens or not now because it doesn't really prove anything since Pac is past his best.

for starters, it's mental. a prime pacquiao doesn't carry his opponents. prime manny didn't carry morales, barrera.
after that, his legs are going, and he can't use them for 12 rounds.
he's less accurate, and his balance is starting to suffer in his combinations.
and finally, his chin and reflexes are gone. you saw the fourth marquez fight. he got dropped by a telegraphed, winging right hand. those are shots he used to take.
it's quite obvious that he's slipped. he's not done yet, because a bit of the great fighter still remains, but he's on the downside.
See its bull**** like this that causes me to be annoyed.
He JUMPED into a hayemaker from somebody hes fought FOUR times, its not telegraphed ITS LEARNED.
Granite chin or not if you jump in to a huge counter like that you are getting KTFO.
If pac fought marquez again he would dominate him, like i saw him do in the 4th fight up until the KO.
I think too much is made of both of these points. He hasn't really had a KO at 147 -- both Hatton and Cotto were either at 140 or basically at 140. His explosive power just never carried up to that weight. Additionally, the guys he's been fighting, as others have mentioned, have been iron-chinned or have absolutely clammed up into defensive shells after about three rounds. Hatton and Cotto both tried to fight with him and got caught.
In terms of his mental state or passion, I just think he's doing what all great fighters do as they age. Look at Hopkins and Mayweather for instance -- at a certain point in their careers, they stopped relying on their physical gifts and stopped knocking people out. Likewise, Manny increasingly uses his intelligence, experience, and technical skills to beat his opponents. It doesn't always look as impressive -- e.g. Mayweather's victory over Cotto -- but it works and prolongs the career.
Without question, Pacquiao has experience some marginal decline in his physical tools. But he should still be pretty heavily favored to beat anyone at 147 or 140 who isn't named Mayweather.
Nice thoughtful post. Mayweather wins the fight If It should ever happen{kills me to say that} but expect Manny to give him hell and leave It all In the ring.
He has declined. I think his hunger is not what it once was which is normal when you get to the very top and you have other obligations. Pac is a part time fighter. He has a full time job and a very demanding one at that when he is not fighting. The fact that he can still compete and beat very good fighters speaks volumes.
The guy has a lot on his plate but still manages to put on great performances.

Can't really say anything after this post.
I wouldn't say he's declined, but mentally, his drive is no longer there. Physically, he still has all his tools but it doesn't seem like hes got the same drive anymore. I wouldn't call that declined though, thats just a mental issue. Maybe due to being super religious now or having been at the top level has made his hunger disappear.
People like to claim declined/physically deteriorated in order to validate the 40year old Marquez's brutal knockout and the fact that Manny hasn't KO'd anybody for a very long time.

What areas do you feel he declined the most In.
Balance and stamina. Two things he very heavily relies on. Punch resistance remains to be seen as Rios didn't test his chin much if at all.
If you can watch Pacquiao's last five fights and think Pacquiao is still the best fighter in the world, you're just delusional. That is all there is to it at this point.
