Back when public pressure was on to make Mayweather Pacquiao happen, do you think he was scared?
I'm a big fan of both fighters- I rate Mayweather's skill level above Pacquiao's though.
The way I understood it at the time, and the way I still understand it now, is Mayweather was effectively saying- "I'm not scared of you, however I am suspicious of the way you have moved up in weight and just walked through world champions. I am not willing to risk my reputation, my legacy, my unbeaten record, and my health, unless you can prove there is no foul play. If you are willing to prove it, then let's get it on, and then at least if I lose, I'll know you were the better fighter."
I don't think Mayweather was scared, of Pacquiao or of losing his '0'. I think he thought he might lose, but I think he was so convinced Pacquiao was juicing, he didn't want to put himself in a situation where he could ruin everything he'd worked for by a guy injecting himself and having an unfair advantage.
In my honest opinion, I think the Pacquiao that beat Cotto would have really roughed up Mayweather. He was so fast and had so much snap in his punches then it was unreal. However, I am suspicious over whether this was entirely natural.
What do you guys reckon? Was Mayweather scared?
