While I don't see this fight ever happening due to the size difference and lack of name recognition on Golovkin's part, it is still an interesting match up. GGG at 154 would be the most dangerous fight for Floyd right now but I honestly believe it is a winnable fight for him.
My reasons for this opinion are simple: I don't believe Golovkins competition has been all that stiff. Knocking out Gabe Rosado and Matthew Macklin doesn't mean you are capable of beating the most skilled fighter in the world. GGG also hasn't faced anybody who can move and counter as well as Floyd. He would spend the whole night chasing Floyd around the ring looking for the perfect shot while never finding the opportunity to land one. I just don't see any flat footed, come forward, power puncher being able to stop Mayweather. You also have to take into account that Golovkin would be moving down in weight and might lose a bit of punching power due to being weight drained.
I believe Floyd's speed, skill, ring generalship, experience, and counter punching ability will win him the day.
The only way Floyd would outpoint GGG is if there were a lot of Floyd fans doing the judging. If Floyd could just last 12 rounds without being stretched unconscious his loyal fans would claim he dominated the fight. Floyd could land nothing to trouble GGG. But he is evasive enough to possibly not get knocked out, which is enough for Floyd devotees.
Truth, Canelo landed harder and cleaner punches in his fight with Floyd, and his fans believe their hero beat him up and was just on the verge of KOing him.
Yeah, the biggest problem for Floyd would be his inability to land anything that would get Golovkin's respect. He would score quite easily but even with his quality of movement, he's eventually going to get backed up in pretty much every round. I think being cornered by GGG would be a whole different experience to being cornered by Cotto.

That's easy to say, when Floyd's not actually fighting MWs, and MWs that have the exact style necessary to beat Floyd.
I've debated this topic to death in the other thread, that's my $0.02.
I'm not gonna call posters that think Floyd wins, delusional, but I seriously think they have a superman complex with Floyd.
This!
Floyd has a great defence but the guy is barely 5'8'' and needs to weight drain legitimate light middleweights. How would he stand up to the pressure, intelligent pressure at that, by a guy who is 5'11' and much bigger in terms of weight. GGG, for all his hype is knocking out guys much bigger than Floyd, how is a man who is a small welterweight even going to take those punches? and do so for 12 rounds?
Aw man, you just reminded me of the Floyd vs. Dirrell thread where people said Floyd would be the favorite at 168 if those 2 fought.
I'm sure it was an alt ridden thread. These guys have no conviction or shame. Worst fan base in boxing, or beyond
He beat Dirrell over 3 rounds with headgear and big gloves, a format that should hugely favor Dirrell. Who wins, Floyd or Durrell?
Hell most though Floyd got beat by Castillo in Floyd's prime and at his best weight. Did jlc have fast hands?

ggg is all hype and i agree floyd would outpoint him,,
people laugh but i also said the same thing about a guy like chavez jr and martinez, floyd outpoints them easy despite the size difference,
floyd never gets hit with a CLEAN punch with power behind it, and if he does get hit its one where he nulified most of the power in it
he UDs all 3 of them, ggg the easiest because hes ****
You really can't stand offensive artists can you? GGG would knock Floyd out so hard you'd quit watching the sport entirely.

That had to be one of the dumbest for this board and thats saying something LLS
stevens is basically a bigger version of floyd. same defense and handspeed just more power and golovking destroyed him. come on now.

You miss the second fight??
Dumb post...:gives:
Great input bud. I can see why you'd wanna keep it simple since last time you tried arguing you embarrassed yourself at every step. Still heavily butthurt, I see

ggg handspeed way too slow to give floydweather any problems.

floyd is not going back up at 154...don't know why his fanboys want him to fight bigger guys when floyd is not even interested.
Don't know where you get the idea that Floyd fanboys want bigger guys for their idol. This TS already listed the number of excuses why Floyd shouldn't fight bigger guys, like GG's lack of name recognition, etc. Just the mention of GG terrifies them. They want Garcia, Bradley, Matthysse, Alexander - small dudes. Or big guys with catchweight.
Floyd wouldn't fight someone smaller than him in Pacquiao, so why does anyone think he'd have the guts to fight someone bigger with GGG's skills? Floyd doesn't even think it's a winnable proposition.
Floyd CAN beat GGG, he's that good that you can't totally count him out. But the question is, would you put your money on him if the fight was made? I wouldn't. At any weight.
Floyd wants no part of GGG. He respects the soviet style too much. Tszyu was the only fighter Floyd respected and they never fought. GGG isn't on Floyd's radar so I don't know why fans keep talking about it.
