A good friend of mine's dad is a doctor. He doesn't watch boxing or know anything other than what I told him, but I explained everything that happened to this point. He told me that if he had to be ihntibated because of the stroke and is on life that support, that he's likely now in a persistent vegetative state due to the stroke and trauma. His brain was swollen from the trauma which caused the blood cot and stroke, which is why they took a piece of his skull out. He said he suspects he's brain dead and the only hold up is waiting for the family to accept that, give up, and decide to donate his organs. I really hope that's not the case, but I trust this guy a lot. I'm keeping Magomed and his family in my prayers, but I always like to prepare for the worst whole hoping for the best. I told my wife after the first round that the fight should be stopped. Mago was already defeated. He was looking in the camera to see his face swelling on the big screen behind the ring. I said if he's worried about that, he's done. It should have been stopped then and there.
Some of you guys are taking a doctor's opinion too personal.
This doctor doesn't know who Mago is or anything about him. He gave his opinion on the situation as a doctor.
I can see how him saying for his family go give up made people angry, but as a doctor I don't see him being emotionally attached.
I don't know if he'll get better or not, I hope he does, but somebody with more professional knowledge than all of us here gave his opinion on the situation.
As for donating his organs, i'm very pro organ donation. Don't know wtf all this harvesting people like crops are.
The doctor doesn't know a damn thing he's just guessing. He should have said he needs more information like Jag's gf did. But he went into all this about braindead and harvesting organs.
You are pro organ donation. Great. Not everyone shares your zeal for it. And it should not be assumed when a man dies he's automatically going to donate. That's really something too speculative to even be professional.
People that see a white coat and think its gospel without due process of thought are the same types that get loaded up with experimental medication with unknown long term implications when they get older, becoming in effect, guinea pigs. Then they take even more experimental meds to deal with the side effects of the first meds. And so on. As I said, dispassionate science has its PLACE. Strength of the human spirit has its place as well. One should not be lorded over the other.
I really cannot believe that some people are actually abusing what a friend told another friend on here. I understand the sensitivity regarding this subject but the friend was just giving his medical opinion.
Agreed. People should be able to talk in private about any number of things. This, however, is not private anymore, so it is rightfully open to scrutiny.
People are in denial that they are living what's called "life".
That doctor gave an opinion based on this experience, study and knowledge. And you guys call him cold? Let me tell you this, it's hard for a doctor not to be cold. You know how many people you see die no matter what you try to do? And giving the news to their loved ones right after that they're gone. Now i'm not saying the doctor is cold, he isn't but that should give you guys some thought about his views.
I lost men, brothers in Iraq. Doctors were as honest and blunt to their situations as can be. You always want hope, but sometimes you have to see reality or esle you'll hurt worse. and Btw, organ donating saved alot of lives for us too, helped so much so that's why the doctor suggested it. It does help.
Now i hope Mago is okay and I pray he comes through this but I had to chime in on the negative BS some are giving the OP and his friend. You guys aren't in the doctors situation to even make a decent opinion on how he should talk or feel or even look at things and the OP gave us what should be a realistic look at how things COULD go. We could all be wrong but this negative BS needs to stop.
I think the individuals who are freaking out at the doctors honest opinion, are doing a greater disservice for Mago. When someone has been severely injured in such a manner, I find denial to be somewhat disrespectful, in the sense that people are unwilling to acknowledge the reality of boxing.
I pray that Mago will be okay, and at the same time I pray that people remember what has happened, so that they think twice about calling someone a quitter, or cry about a ref stopping a fight ''prematurely''.
I don't think things would ever change, since Mago has been in a coma the word "Coward" "Ducking" etc has been typed more than 50 times on here. Am still shocked that people took offense to a conversation between 2 friends.
I really cannot believe that some people are actually abusing what a friend told another friend on here. I understand the sensitivity regarding this subject but the friend was just giving his medical opinion.
No, If ive learnt one thing in my years, its that having a medical degree can be massively overated, by both the Dr and people asking for advice.
Its the most specialized industry in the world, yet they always have an opinion yet ive spent more years at school that most MDs and trust me, people think im full of ****. Especially on here and they are right.
I have no idea about the outcome of this patient, but trust me. onnly his family would and his neurosurgeon is, like us just guessing an hoping.
Yeah but 10 years in high school doesn't count

I hope he doesn't become a "beating heart cadaver". Thats prob the worst way to go out

TS talked to a f#cking doctor, who used his background to speculate about magomed's condition given the facts presented to us through the media. all of this was made explicit in the post.
just delete your account, dude. no good comes from it.
^^^^^ what he said.
Whaaaat ??? Dude I get it... You feel for the guy. But really how old are you ? Ever watch the news ? There's people dying or on life support every day from acts of violence they didnt even willingly put themselves in. It's part of life ... DEATH. TS knows a guy who's a doctor explained the situation and he gave his honest opinion. I'm sure if he was in a professional setting and was Mago's actual doctor he would've probably sugar coated it some as I'm sure you would prefer ... But what does any of that matter if in the back of Doc's mind he's saying to himself "yea this guy is focked" .. I mean really if your mechanic told you he couldn't fix your car in other words it was DEAD , would you be mad at him because he wasn't being positive about the situation ?
You are comparing a person to a car? OK I'm done talking to you.
I spoke to a friend about Mago and my friend is a priest. He said that if we all just prayed, Mago would make a complete recovery.
Pretty good advice don't you think?
Yes I do.
What a retarded comment.
I believe he wil recover. You believe as you wish.
Dude gave his professional opinion. What's wrong with suggesting donating his organs?
It's not like he said this to Mago's family either.
It may just have. As I said earlier his callous comments could have easily been seen by one of Mago's people by now. As I said a small ripple can travel across a whole pond, and this is indicative of a callous dispassionate attitude that some doctors, and posters apparently, have towards human life.
And donating organs is an assumption. Many people can't stomach the thought of a guy slicing open their recently deceased loved one and taking his heart kidneys etc.. , and considering how Mago is still ALIVE, that's doubly grievous to say. Harvest organs? Wtf is wrong with this world. First Mago is a car, now he's a crop. Amazing. If Mago is a donater that's between him and his family, and not to be speculated upon by some jackoff with a white coat or any of you.
Being honest? What? He's speculating and then giving some pretty horrid advice like "give up and donate", and it hasn't even been a week. The **** is that? That's not just cold, it's dumb as hell.
First of all, he didn't give advice. He's talking to his flucking friend for christ sakes. WTF are you talking about? He never advised to "give up and donate"...he's saying that's probably the situation they're in. This is a common situation for most situations like this.
Second, every prognosis in medicine is an assumption based on the information known at that time and what has happened in similar situations in the past. There is PLENTY of information regarding to what's happened to Mago to make a reasonable assumption on the prognosis of his condition. It's not like this has not happened numerous times in various situations.
Third, you guys sound like idiots being upset at this doctor for giving his opinion to his friend. THIS IS THE REALITY OF BOXING! It sucks...but it is what it is. Your hyper irrational response to the reality of it won't change it.
I think the individuals who are freaking out at the doctors honest opinion, are doing a greater disservice for Mago. When someone has been severely injured in such a manner, I find denial to be somewhat disrespectful, in the sense that people are unwilling to acknowledge the reality of boxing.

Go easy, he has has is emotions played with :lol1:
If your mind and Amir Khan's chin got into a fight i would put my money on Khan's chin.
You sound too sensitive to be watch boxing. You should follow a different sport
Neither TS nor the doctor know WTF is REALLY going on. So why come here and play with people's emotions? This thread is fkin trash. Red K sent. Disgusting.
