His style of fighting is very similar to an older 154lb de la Hoya, ofcourse with more power and better ability to cut the ring off. He works excellently behind a great left jab, sets up vicious left hooks to the body and head. I can't see anyone from 147-168 posing a theat to him at the moment.
one thing I like about him is he's not in love with his power eventhough it's his biggest weapon. he's very patient with his approach and sets everything up with the jab. he always make it a point to mix up his attacks with head and body punches depending on the opening he sees.
He is a thinker, always trying to setup traps in there. It is easy for him to trap guys on the ropes, then he tries to create openings. You can see when they go into a shell, he will try to get them to change up their guard to find openings. He wastes very little.
I find he is almost too patient. He could have gotten Stevens out early, but it would have came at the risk is getting hit with a fast hook he didn't see coming, and yes Stevens could have knocked him out with a blind punch. Golovkin knows it and kept to his game. The guys with the solid whiskers, are the one with the in fight awareness to make sure they see everything coming.
He's one of those guys that do everything well. I saw tonight how well he tucks his chin..yes he gets hit, but not very flush..hes a very patient and aware fighter.
pffft a less than scintillating performance i thought.... doesnt move his head, easy to hit, and very frustrating to watch when he punches at 40% rather than just load up and get a guy out of there. i know people will say its a strategy of his to be cautious and not gas out but ffs its more dangerous to let a guy off the hook especially a big puncher like stevens and leave a guy in the fight. you wanna get a guy like that out of there. theres no way he should have made it past the 4th. the stoppage was more like an accumulation of half hearted slapping punches that were mostly hitting gloves and forearms. yawn......

His style reminds me More of jcc sr. Golovkin is a lot more powerful while Sr. Has better defensive movements.
despite the body punching abilities i agree, but i think sr was an an excellnet inside fighter to where GGG is at his weakest. just my opinion...
Well, GGG is a natural middleweight so no one below the middleweight division will pose much of a threat. Maybe a fight against Cotto, Angulo, Canelo all 154 lbers would put up a better fight than Stevens but at the end Golovkin would still beat them. Looks like GGG is probably going to face Martin Murray and the only other guy that can pose any other threat is Quillin.

....but I can't see anyone 168-175 posing a threat to ward...I love GGG to

Wow you're actually on point even their posture is identical how they adopt that hunch back technique
