And it has little to do with his power.
GGG controls distance with that jab like none other. GGG is there to hit...but good luck actually hurting him. His chin is never in the air and Ward don't have power like that anyways. So we know Ward isn't stopping GGG.
The difference maker would be GGG's jab. It's hard, he controls distance with it and he pumps it constantly. It would give Ward's in and out, too close or too far style fits.
Would LOVE to see this fight...I think we'd see the best of both these guys but I could see GGG beating Ward via decision or KO.
Golovkin wins the fight with his greater reach and power. Ward won't go down easy, and has to resort to bhop mugging style. Nobody can take 12 rnd from GGG, you have to stop him, and ward can't.
I still think Ward is the wrong fight for GGG, he would beat the Martinez that I saw against Murray and he would beat Quillin, but Ward is on another level in terms of ring generalship.
It sucks that GGG is a foreigner and will get taken advantage of by Ward and his blatant PED use if they ever fight. Ward would never allow a guy like GGG to request random testing and I fear that Ward will fight yet again as a man juiced to the grills. GGG still tosses him, but I believe in fighting fair.
This post is emitting high quantities of truth.
"GGG controls distance"
The #1 thing that makes Andre Ward a pound for pound fighter is his sense of distance. Ward will smother him, land and grab him up so nothing comes back in return. Rinse and repeat.
Power doesn't win fights. Skills do.
Fortunately for Ward, Golovkin doesn't have any skills
right? that's what you're saying.
Nah. Ward is too big, more skilled, and would smother Golovkin whenever GGG closed distance. I would need to see Golovkin beat Froch or something before I'd consider him against Ward. HBO will make this fight first chance they get though.

I agree with your analysis
Blumpkin was exposed, hes not a top fighter, getting caught by left hooks like crazy, a stronger fighter K.O'S blumpkin ,Whys he fighting espn level fighters and struggling anyways ?
martinez, cotto, hell ward drops a few pounds beats him too. hes too stiff hes a b+ fighter at best not elite..
O yeah thats bs another fighter koes 3g. How many fighters have the power that stevens has??
Listen...I agree that IF Ward is able to back GGG up, smother him on the inside and force him to fight off his backfoot, he beats GGG...and that is assuming GGG doesn't improve in those areas...but let's not act like this fight is a cake walk for Ward.
Ward often rushes in to smother...GGG is always in position to punch and has power...Ward hasn't had to walk through that type of guy to smother. And Ward doesn't have the power to keep GGG off of him on the outside. You're fooling yourself if you think GGG is easy work for Ward.
And of course Ward will touch GGG...GGG is there to be hit, but Ward ain't knocking GGG out.
Andre Ward hasn't faced a fighter with Golovkin's power? He's fought power punchers all through '68..... not '60 -- power punchers in a bigger weight division. The guy he's fighting is a power puncher. I wouldn't doubt that Ward starts walking down Golovkin.
One of the easier fights for Ward.
a one trick pony with a 345-5 amateur record & a pro-record of 28-0 (including 25 ko). Last time he ended his fight by UD was in 2008. Not bad for a one trick pony !
One trick pony > "Jack of all trades, master of none" fighters.
One trick pony < ATG
I'll even go...
One Trick Pony < Sergio Mora, not Martinez, but Mora

Based on what I saw tonight, Ward would win every round of a fight against GGG and may stop him late. GGG is good, but he is not at Ward's level.
I think you and many others are falling in love with GGG's power the same way you fell in love with Matthysse's power and we all know what happened to him.
