There you have it, mostly C level guys, a few B level guys.
It's a much more impressive resume than Peter Quillin's, on the other hand he really needs to step it up.
Good thread, nice analysis. Not bad for your first post!
Give this guy some credit, he pretty accurately summed up what each guy in Golovkin's resume did.
Matthew Macklin is a B-level fighter, he gave Sergio Martinez a good amount of trouble and arguably was robbed against Sturm in his first title attempt.Thanks. Macklin is fairly decent, after the Sturm fight they've been feeding him to Martinez & GGG, the dude's luck is running thin.
HBO/K2 had plans for Thomas Oosthuizen vs GGG, Hassan N'Dam N'Jikam vs GGG, too bad those plans didn't follow through. Bob Arum promised Matt Korobov a fight against Golovkin in the very near future.
Personally I want the God Of War to face Sergio Mora, Martin Murray, Daniel Geale, & then Carl Froch. Froch is too big a leap for the good boy right now. Froch probably wants to execute Julio Cesar Chavez Jr first anyway.
I wouldn't go quite that far, but I don't think he's getting Chavez or Martinez.
Murray and/or Froch seem more likely although his first fight of the year (Jan. in Monaco) will likely be another C-class opponent.
-Mora/Bursak/Lee/Nielsen in January
-Murray/Barker in June-August
-Martinez in September-December
I see Jan as another filler, doubt the big Froch fight can be made that fast to negate that..... but I think if they aim for the summer, they can get it done for the summer
I was hoping Murray would make that January date, but he's fighting in early December so it would likely be too soon. Hopefully they get someone durable like Mora.
I think Eddie Hearn prefers Golovkin over Chavez for Froch because then he can have the fight in the UK but he said on Ifilmlondon that he doesn't think Team Golovkin are keen on fighting Froch so Idk.
I think if Murray is offered good money, he'll fight GG. That's the fight that should be made imo.

If 3G decides to go up to 168, I think Arum would aim to make the match-up because it would be more entertaining than fighting Ward or Froch and he'd have a better chance to win.
Golovkin would be willing to go up 68, but will Chavez bother making weight?
K2 is backing him, outside of the K-bros I don't think they have any other big name fighters. And he needs to build his name up as a fighter stateside. He would've done better with either TR or GBP, but he's getting his name out there.
Also we already know he's been trying to get a big fight. Martinz wrapped up, Murray visa issues and Hatton issues, Barker wants to be compensated very well, Quillin with Showtime, Geale wanted to fight Barker, Sturm never wanted to fight.
Shoot, Chavez Jr. is more than willing IMO, that's just up to Arum when he wants to cash him out
He could get Martinez late next year, maybe Chavez too. Arum would probably feed Chavez to Ward or Froch first though

So you think 3G is gonna play clean-up for another year?

Really though what's the point of us fans seeing him KO C-level fighters 4 times a year? It's wasted talent in its prime and a waste of a potential global star on the part of HBO.
If they want big name opponents to get in with a killer, they need to pay the danger money otherwise they're just not going to do it.

It's gonna suck when that time comes. He'll probably make his first 7 figures next year when he fights Martinez/Chavez.

Realistically Chavez and Martinez aren't getting in the ring with Golovkin. JCC has moved up seeking Ward/Froch fights and Martinez is targeting Cotto/Canelo.
Why will they not fight Golovkin? they're not being offered enough money. 300k isn't going to cut it for the level of risk involved.

He's filling a good need for them though, a good budget fighter. He gets paid 300k a fight and he puts up good numbers.
When K2 or him start asking for more money, that's when we'll see him less

No, HBO need to step up the amount they offer his potential opponents. They ought to consider him an investment.
Right now, he's very high risk-low reward. There's no incentive for the division's top fighters to face him.
Typically Carl Froch is the only top fighter from 154-168 who has put his hand up, but Gennady shouldn't be forced to move up.

GGG's resume isn't great, but he's been stopping his opponents without too much trouble. As long as he continues to show that the opposition isn't on his level, then there isn't anything to complain about.
No the real question is: Who is saying Golovkin has a great resume?
His last fight was his step up to a world level guy.... and well, we saw what happened. Just go relax, go outside, and give him a chance to build his resume..
Actually ward and people said ggg shouldnt move up but mayweather should move up to fight ggg and carl froch put his hand down to a ward rematch but i dont blame him for that because boxing is a business and ward will beat him again
No, Mayweather could stay where he is, Golovkin was willing to move down. See the difference?
If guys like may weather and ward are a level fighters and a guy like froch is a b+ level fighter then how in the **** is Macklin a b level fighter? He's barely world class. Stop it ppl.
Imo Froch is an A level fighter, but an A- rather than an A+. The guy's on almost all the PFP lists with one of the best records in boxing.
Proska lol just got embarrassed by sergio snake mora a 154 pounder from the contenders so no hes not a b level type fighter unless by b level you mean bumb level kassim the dream ouma a career 154 pounder waaaayyyyyy past prime who was actually in a close fight with ggg early hometown stoppage win / controversial win lol at his absolute best he was a gate keeper type with high work rate and no power who manage to win a belt somehow idk and macklin another 154 pound fighter who laid down for a check possibly and gabe rosado is another 154 pounder who moved up in his first fight at the weight and did rather well until cuts forced a stoppage and there was a glove issue as well lol but ggg did what he had to do with whoever they put him in with also to you guys who fall in love with punchers and hype you do understand boxing is an event driven business with marketing plans and strategic moves to fool the public at times not saying good boy is not more substance than hype but you never know till he cleans out a division the last fighter that was hyped like that was pacman hes a good fighter but the hype machine was so crazy some people are still fooled behind it no matter what happens they will make excuses similar to mike tyson my fav fighter not in ring just in general remember his hype and downfall and people still 30 years later blaming don king and robbin givens lol also look at lucas mattysse lol
People here fantasize and manipulate facts
I didn't know Panama City was Golovkin's hometown.
haha could hbo be charged with attempted murder for making the fight against ishida? like honestly that was like throwing a cow carcass in shark infested water and sitting back to enjoy the show.
that fight wasnt on hbo if im not mistaken
