If top rank and golden boy refuse to talk about a cotto-canelo fight can cotto go to golden boy and negotiate?im not aware if cotto is still a free agent or he recently sign a contract with top rank?
yes is the answer but like cotto said before, talk to top rank for my fights
he has been in both companies, he has decided that top rank (rightly so) is better, they look after guys better and don't whine like richard does every week like a dumped ex because top rank are still getting better ratings than golden girls
Martinez is the safer fight if Cotto wants to go out with a win. Martinez coming off and injury, long layoff, and pushing 40 is a safer bet than a Canelo who isn't in his prime yet.
I think Cotto/Martinez is a good scrap.
I think Canelo beats this version of Cotto easily...
cotto is already set to fight martinez next year under top rank promotions.
canelo and golden boy can go look at other directions. besides canelo just got his a$$ handed to him so he should try to rebound from that loss first before jumping to another major fight.
As far as im aware Cotto is a free agent but is looking to finish off his career working alongside (not for) Bob and "The Company".
Canelo and Martinez are both dangerous fights but Cotto aint never been about cherry picking, I think as good a fight as Canelo would be it will be the Sergio fight that gets done because should he win it would make Miguel a 4 weight champion - PR's first and is a more credible win with Martinez being the lineal champion at MW and Saul coming off a loss even if it is to Mayweather
i think a canelo fight would be a more even match up then a martinez fight, even though it would be more lucrative if cotto fought martinez and beat him first, but i don't think martinez and dibella would sign on for it without a rematch clause. it's a catch 22.
Cotto is a free agent. Dibella was trying to get HBO to do a two fight deal with him with the 2nd fight being against Martinez but HBO for whatever reason declined and went with Top Rank for a one fight deal with Rodriguez.
