Count until like 8 and if he is not up by then call it off. It's funny when you see a ref give a dead body a full count but not a guy who just took a trip
Couldnt disagree more with the video, especially the two examples he provided. I have no problem with a referee erring on the side of caution. If you as a fighter dont want it put in the refs hand, dont force his hand.
If it bothers this guy so much, why doesn't he become a referee?
"A referee's job is to give a guy every chance to continue ..."
It's also his job, and a greater priority, to protect a fighter from harm.
What he apparently doesn't get is that if a referee has already made up his mind that a guy has had enough upon the knockdown, he doesn't need to count to 10. Just because a guy gets to his feet doesn't mean he is fit to continue. It's not as simple as if you get up, the fight goes on -- if he gets knocked down because he's unable to defend himself, the ref should call the fight. The object of the game is to render the opponent unable to continue and if this has been accomplished, it should be over.
Good vid. I go back and forth on some of the premature stoppages. Politics and corruption aside, in the ring refs see and hear more than we do...i'm sure assessing damage and knowing the right moment to stop a fight is tough in the moment. not giving a full 10 count does annoy me, that should be perfunctory
oh that and having the doctor run into the during while a count is still going on.
Outstanding South. I've been arguing to no end about premature stoppages, terrible stoppages and refs stopping their count.
i agree alot of them are too trigger happy to call a fight off
Pretty good vid, what do you guys think??
