BOXING star Ricky Hatton has told how he once floored his own dad in a heated car park punch-up.
The Hitman also revealed that he visits a counsellor each month to help him fight his booze and depression demons.
A bitter family feud had erupted resulting in legal letters between Hatton and his parents.
The ex-world champion, 35, was challenged by dad Ray as he took his kit bag from the boot of his car in September last year, just hours before he was set to announce his return to the ring.

Ricky should be more depressed because of Cortez, that MF fuked his fight up big time.
yeah, Cortez just wouldn't ignore the rules to let Hatton do his hold and punch
Wow just wow.... You know after the zoo fight I remember hearing that Ricky's dad was managing his affairs, including in the ring. I don't know if this was true what i do know is that Ricky became a dry humping, safety first, psychological wreck culminating in a really poor fight against Juan Lescano? (if memory serves correct).
His family always seemed to be pushing on the guy, influencing things they perhaps should not have....I mean Ricky's manager also was part of that decision to fight that way but it obviously sucked.
I can understand Ricky's frustration.
the difference is that the hattons are idiots
sounds funny coming from a floydiot who worships a family of ex-convicts, drug dealers, wife beaters, crackheads, homos, cowards, ugly motherfuckers! :lol1: :lol1:
Hatton's one of my all time faves and it's sad to see what's become of him in recent times. I hope he sorts himself and his family out, I think he'll make a good trainer/promoter one day, but first he has to get back to his old self.
"Boxing fans disgust me with their comments sometimes...A lot of you guys in this thread are ****ing retarded.!"
Agreed....Hatton gave it all in the ring and sometimes he won and sometimes he lost; but he fought hard and came to entertain us.
All these cheap shots about his problems with booze and family breakdowns drag this board into the proverbial sewer.
A good fighter who took pain in the ring deserves a degree of sympathy, respect and goodwill for the future...not snide, ill-informed sideswipes.
He cried like a baby when he lost his last fight. He lost any respect he had from the fans at that point, including me.
No he didn't, normal people saw a guy at rock bottom trying to hold it together. I didn't lose respect i actually had more for someone that cared so much about his career, sport and fans.

Lol, I agree with this. he took away 50% of Ricky's chance of success against Mayweather. To be honest, until about the 5th round, I thought Ricky was dead even with Money. He gave a really good account of himself early on. True warrior. Hope Ricky and his dad sort things out. I know first hand how that grudge feels. It sucks. It's heart breaking.
Love ricky and what hes done for boxing but I have lost all respect for for telling everyone how he cracked his dad..thats BS, no matter what the circumstances , should of just kept it to himself imo
He's just being honest, like he has always been.
What would you have done if your dad was attacking you?
the difference is that the hattons are idiots
Lol, thinking the Hatton's are dumber than the Mayweathers who most of the time can't even form proper sentences. Get a grip.
Bloody hell it should have been a wake up call for Ricky to realise he was truly shot when a 60 year old 5'5 guy with no fighting experience whatsoever can catch you with a punch You never expect your own father to punch you on your face, no matter how bad the situation has turned out to be. You don't prepare for something like that, ever! Don't try to clown around here trying to make fun of other people's tough situations bro.
I agree to a point but to get better you have to admit your shortcomings
I don't think he is being completely honest about his past with substance abuse. I don't usually indulge in rumours, but I have heard far too many accounts from people over the years, that it even goes back to before the Mayweather fight.
However, I am glad that he getting help and hopefully back on the right road. The issues with his family is terrible. There are no winners in that situation.
