..I think would be a solid fight.
Povetkin although restrained by constant clinching vs Wlad really did not show any versatility, which to me demonstrates his very limited chances even if the **** ref Pabon would have severely warned Wladimir.
Solis has been 3-0 since his knee injury, and looked somewhat impressive in his last outing knocking out a 29-2 opponent in 7 rds.
Wladimir in neutral ground, with a neutral referee, would be in a world of hurt vs La Sombra, Odlanier Solis.
Seems like Wlad would be very effective with his jab in this one, Solis has the guard, parries well and does have overall good D...but he doesn't change levels enough for me to avoid a Wlad jab and stay as accurate...it will disrupt the great timing he has. I suppose he still he has a chance to catch Wlad cleaner than others, but I don't think it's the one or two shots that bothers Klit, it's the wild sequences that disrupt him and that's not really Solis imo.
I dont think Wlad will devolve to level he showed against Povetkin, I think he was handcuffed couldnt find his jab and resorted to holding, i expected it to be extreme but assumed the ref would be warning wlad..that never happend. This would be a much cleaner fight I think, a better Wladimir.
Solis likes to stalk and is a master at not telegraphing his punches and also paces himself very well. Decent foot work and ring generalship have always been on his side regardless of his competition. Against Vitali, we saw some of this as little as it lasted.
Given Solis performs like aforementioned along with better stamina/conditioning he'd be able to take Wlad on a long ride.

Well, I am a boxing genius. And I have analyzed this fight and determined that Wlad win in whatever round he wants. Solis's best victory was landing 4 punches on Vitali. Either that or going wire to wire to fat old Ray Austin. His high guard is too open and Wlad would pepper him with jabs. He is too fat and too slow and Wlad would have his knees buckle after the second round due to clinching. This thread was started by a racist nationalist who is obsessed with fighters based on nationality and not skill. You will not beat this version of Wlad without coming in dedicated. Solis will never do that. Even if he did he still loses, but maybe he'd have a chance. Current Wlad has two weaknesses...a bolo punch and stamina. Solis is fat and disgusting. I would kill myself if I looked at him.
Look if Solis wants the fight, fight some legit competition. Going the distance with guys who got poleaxed in one round by Charr doesnt help. Beat a top 10 fighter. Heck Povetkin needs a fight go after him. The dude is a coward. Got hurt in the first round of his only real fight. Beat someone of note, beat Arreola, Haye, Stiverne, Povetkin, Wilder...heck go fight Jonathon Banks or something. This clown never beat anyone.
Go ahead and do us the favor. :unitedsta
Wlad vs who cares...division sucks
As been the case with many fighters, sometimes the one least expected can raise eyebrows.
Arreola was counted out by many, but was fed to us by the "entertainment" industry. And he just got himself a chance by defeating Mitchell, regardless of what is thought of them.
Solis beats Wlad.
Someone with a decent chin and who came to fight with extremely limited skills reduced Wlad to the worst possible Heavyweight Champion I've ever imagined.
There were whole rounds with no punches landing. My friends and I were laughing hysterically in disbelief. An embarrassing outing.
Solis with his responsible high guard, and sharp counter right over top (a punch Povetkin was trying to land and was able to connect firmly once in the 11 or 12th IIRC) would end him.
Yesterday's fight reaffirmed my belief that Wladimir is a Champion who has always had to rely on his infinitely better older brother Vitali to clear the path by softening or completely removing the true challenges. Wladimir should never be mentioned in any p4p or ATG discussions.
This is a great post.
Solis has certain intangibles that would be detrimental to Wlad.
Solis is one of the most skilled boxer in the HW division and he should be able to beat any fighter out there but he lacks focus and disciplin. Let's first see how he handles a top ten fighter.
Agreed with this post. Will he be given the opportunity to fight any top 10 though? Word is has been inactive, however he's fought twice in 2013, possibly another one bf years end.
Not meaning to be a dick or shoot your thread down but i genuinely couldnt give a ****, im done watching him. Solis was a guy i was excited about early in his career, he hasn't came on like i had hoped but is still good despite his horrendous weight gain. But in truth it does nothing for me as a fight fan
You should probably consider your position. Simply because you think a fighter is not worthy given conditioning and inactive shouldn't mean you would never care to watch them again. All it takes is that one big win. Solis still holds an above average skill set to beat most of the top fighters.
Solis besides the over the top criticism he receives due to weight and inactivity hasn't really let down regardless of what happened in the 1 rd vs Vitali. Until he is clearly put out of his "misery", I will continue to support him whether he is a bit chubby and mismanaged.
Solis can beat any HW in the world, with the proper motivation.
based on what? he flopped in his biggest fight with vitali. the leg injury was unfortunate but it did happen from a right hand that clearly buckled him. he needs to beat a live body impressively before exalting him into a top fighter

I lost my hope for Solis. Once a big fan, im verry disapointed in his lackluster performances and his lack of dedication and work ethic. He comes in totally out of shape and his 3 fights sinse loosing against Vitali were a farce. I hoped he would learn something from the vitali fight but now he is even worse than ever before. This version of Solis has no better chance to beat Wladimir than Povetkin. I even think Klitschko would stop Solis, his conditioning is just to bad to go 12 rounds with Wladimir. He needs to get down to 230 pounds but that will never happen.
Just reading my post back, i should clarify its Wlad im done watching!
Solis i still watch but as good as he still is (even in his shape) he has been a massive let down. He's a better opponent than most for Wlad and looked like he was handling himself Very well in the Vitali fight as short as it was Until his own weight buckled his knee basically
Be great if he could drop the excess weight and make a real dedicated run at the championship because the ability is there. Kinda reminds me of a Heavyweight Cotto style wise
Wow. I can't believe I never saw that before. I agree. There are similarities.
I was done with my wishful thinking on Solis a few years ago. I've believed for a while now that Odlanier will never live up to expectations. The guy's a tease. lol He'll always seem like he's right there, but he'll never...quite...make...it....
I'm with you. The guy is such a waste it's stomach-turning. What makes it even more painful is that, despite Solis's deplorable physical condition, he still looks surprisingly good. I don't know if he was ever good enough to beat either Klitschko, but he was certainly good enough to make you think he might.
