Vera should have won a UD, but I'm okay with the robbery because Chavez was DRILLING him throughout the fight. It seemed like one Chavez punch equaled 10 of Vera's :).
Vera was robbed with the decision I saw it 96-94 for Vera.
Stevenson was all over Cloud. BEfore the fight I believed Cloud has a chance, b ut I was wrong..
The problem with the outcome of this fight is because there is no basis for how a fight should be judged. Jim Lampley pointed this out that the judge favored the quality of the shots than the quantity of the shots. Chavez rocked Vera at least a couple of times, but not strong enough to put Vera on the canvass. Moderators point me out if there is such a basis for how a fight should be judged.
I truly believe the judges decisions were wrong because in the end it was Chavez Jr's face that was blown out, not Vera's. I was a fan of Chavez before, but not now, because his fighting style now has become boring, keeps running instead of dominating his opponents, but even then he was still heavily hit. His poor performance against Martinez took the toll on the promoters not being able to sell the fight seats, now this poor performance again.
Why do I feel like Chavez Sr. just isn't strict enough on his son?
If Julio Jr/Sr had a relationship and a corner like Danny & Angel, that would be something to behold in the ring.
Watching the fight for the first time right now and in round 5 at about 1:05 Lou(the ref) goes to Chavez "Stop crying"
HAHAHA
edit: Scored it for Vera 96-94
Chavez wins rounds 1 and 4-6
chavez showed that he is a fighter that im not going to give a **** about. He has disrespected the sport by not taking it seriously and he still got out pointed. Now he doesnt want to give the man a rematch.
I dont care about who he fights unless its someone like froch thats gonna whoop his ass.
Really he doesnt deserve a shot against the best in the div. he talked his way into fighting serg and looked like **** in that one so I wish he would just retire already
Man where was Stevenson all these years?! The man isn't just a bomber, he's a puncher, boxer, entertainer and a STAR :)! The canadian crowd was great, overreacting to even big shot Stevenson landed.
Berto is the odd man out here...Stivern, Stevenson, and Pascal (nevermind the schooling by Hop) are repin' Haiti, while Berto is a gait keeper.
My honest opinion is that Vera won the fight. But Chavez was catching him with some VICIOUS shots :D. A couple buckled Vera. So while Vera was robbed, he got caught enough to give the judges an excuse to hand Chavez the gift on the I-dont-judge-on-workrate reason.
Chavez's constant crying to the ref on every foul got old, but the ref was allowing thr rough stuff.
Cloud...Cloud...the Campillo fight!Ruined him. He had never been beaten up like that. Then he fires the trainer that up until that point he was undefeated with! Goes in there with a new trainer and gets outboxed by a 48 year old man. I knew he was done then, which is why I thought signing on with Stevenson was suicide. Roy Jones tried to support his fellow Floridian :)...but the man was finished.
The IBF allows unifications ahead of mandatories.
But Stevenson is the WBC champion....they don't really encourage unification fights and actually force the fighter to drop one of the belts in the event that a unification happens.
You're right. A bit unfortunate, I'm still optimistic HBO will get the job done. Lets hope so. That's the fight to make at 175
had it 96-94 jcc jr
i gave chavez the 8th bc he landed great shots even tho vera outlanded him 13-20
vera did a good job bullying the bigger guy but he fell for that feint jab-left hook too often. even buckled a few times
as far as stevenson, he's a monster. hopkins would def be eating leather if they fight nd vs kovalev would be fireworks, superman kos him, lefts too strong
Chavez Jr won 6-4. He landed the harder shots. I had it 5-4 Junior going into round 10, and Junior won round 10.
You're smoking crack. Round 10 was a pretty clear round for Vera.
I'm glad that some folks here get it. If the score cards read 96-94 in Chavez I'd think it was a bad decision but I wouldn't call it a robbery. When you have the winner of the fight only winning 2 rounds, something foul is at play.
It is similar to the Rios v Abril fight where one judge had Rios winning 9 rounds when an argument can be presented for him winning 0.
The corruption is just blatant. Shit like you have to take the belt from a champion I can understand, and maybe even agree with in the sense that I'd feel sorry for a fighter who lost his belt due to numerous swing rounds. But just out in the open corruption? smh.
