Some people say this isn't a bad match-up but the best possible scenario I can see is a lop-sided points loss for Karass, but more likely he gets bodied between rounds 4-7.
I want to hear your thoughts on how this fight plays out.
I could be wrong but I voted no. Karass has surprised me before and maybe he will again. I think he is too easy to hit to survive Thurman's power.I think Thurman takes him out in 6 rounds or less.
Why? There was some arab guy who beat the sht out of karass a few fights ago forgot his name.
He's gotten better recently. I don't think he'll win, but getting completely destroyed and/or dominated? That would be impressive.
No this is great match making to showcase Thurman. Chaves was actually a tough guy and really good.
No one knows if Chaves is any good, beaten no one of any worth and lost to Thurman. He seems a decent fighter though but lets not go overboard on Chaves.
I think he has a chance.
Hes tough as nails, has a good jab, exceptional workrate, dedicated bodypuncher. The guys a freight train.
Hes relentless and improving fight after fight.
I feel this is Thurmans first real test. Good talent but had it all his own way and fought guys contempt on shelling up. Karass won't, hes a Mexican Terminator and it won't be single shots coming back at Thurman, its going to be sheer volume to head & body.
I can't count Karass out here.
Good post and i agree with this but I'm shocked you didn't say "Maidana is a bum and Karass lost to him so Karass is even worse, easy win for Thurman".
You've been on this forum for 6 years and I presume you've been following boxing for quite a while and you don't seem to have learned not to over hype big punchers even after Matthysse got exposed.
(1) I'm not overhyping anyone, I'm picking Thurman to knock-out Karass. If you have such faith in Karass, I have no problem putting points on it. You?
(2) I had Matthysse-Garcia 50/50 going in, neither were exposed, Danny (deservedly) won a close fight in a poorly refereed bout.
Chaves could have won that fight against Thurman but he got a bit careless and undisciplined. Thurman hasn't beaten anyone of note and Karass has a proven chin and took Berto's punches very well, Thurman hasn't shown that he hits harder than Berto.
(3) No, he couldn't handle Thurman's movement, and then ultimately his power.
(4) Like I said, we'll do a points bet (preferably on your main account, but this one will do). Thuman by stoppage.
I think he has a chance.

I definitely think he'll be competitive, no matter how long it lasts. I'd be very surprised and impressed if Thurman completely dominated.

I wanna say no, but I never thought he would beat Berto either. He has a good chin, he won't just fold from Thurman's first big shot. I could see a 10-2 or 9-3 type of decision loss, best case scenario.
Thurman is another power punching hype job, this fight will definitely be competitive, Karass gets hit too much and he isn't so accurate but his sheer work rate will make this competitive for sure, he threw like 1300 punches against Berto.
After watching Thurman vs Chaves it's clear that Thurman isn't elite.
Karass isn't going to stand in front of Thurman and throw that number of punches, he'll get dropped and stopped. You don't walk down a big puncher.
I'll bet points with you on a Thurman winning by knock-out.
Like I've said numerous times, One Time is overrated a bit. This is a good step up fight. Karass isn't a guaranteed out.
He showed both guts and abiltiy to adjust against Diego Chaves. I thought Chaves had a good chance of winning that one and when Thurman kept fighting with a broken nose the way he did that at least in my book got him a few extra points. Than you San Diegggoooo!! Priceless :D
Karass have made significan adjustments in his fighting style. He will be competitive but he gets hit too much and Thurman is going to catch up to him during the fight and put him out
Going with Thurman 60% with Karass having a very fair shot at 40%. Karass is a veteran fighter and will have experience on his side.
I agree. going with Thurman but JSK has the experience edge. and Change your f*cking avatar you lil punk.
Soto Karass has improved in recent years but I think Thurman stops him. He'll be competitive but I don't see him making it to the 9th round. Thurman has shown me power, adaptability, and good movement among other things. I don't think Soto Karass can handle all of that.
No, unless Thurman is overrated and is the result of matchmaking.
So youre saying he wont be competitive but if he is he gets no credit because Thurman is overrated ? That's bull****, if you think Thurman will win at least give Soto Karass the credit he deserves if he pulls it off.
