Didn't see a thread for it so **** it...
Got to say i'm impressed with Callum Smith, most British prospects turn out to be frauds, but this guy seems very good.
Flicked back to BoxNation now for the Paul Butler fight.
Ryder VS Saunders and Chisora Gerber on BoxNation
Matthews VS Woodhouse main event on Sky
Didn't see the Dirty D fight last night but the guy is busy doing his own impersonation of Lazarus...love this guy.
Did watch most of the Copperbox show and thought it was a bit of the proverbial Curate's Egg - good, but only in parts.
Saunders v Ryder did the old Lonsdale belt proud, I liked Billy Joe getting stretched and tested a bit (it will do him good) but also felt John just lacked a wee bit of big fight experience.
Just did not press at the right time and his pacing was off....had a lot left in the tank at the end. But he's got plenty of quality and I genuinely think he can and will come again. Needs to bank this fight and should take plenty of confidence about his competiveness. Saunders will roll-on and is class; but don't be calling out Barker or Murray.
Chisora did a number on Gerber (as widely predicted) but I am not sure Gerber was anything more than a big, strong lad. It was a pretty easy route to the Blue Belt for Del and the Boystov fight would have been far more meaningful.
he was also a bum

I thought Ryders lack of experience over 12 hurt him in this fight. Took it too easy in some early and middle rounds. Shame as i thought he had the beating of Saunders in there.
Good learning fight for both and hopefully we can see a rematch down the line!
Boxnation commentators ridiculously biased toward Saunders I just about got through it.
Not really a memorable night of fights despite the vast amount of them across two channels.
I know, was thinking the same. They tend to do that, boxnation commentators. Unless Paul Smith is there, he's a very good analyst and a fair commentator as well.
But Rawlinson - he's the worst of the lot.

I knew there would be as soon as I read the thread title. It seems the word 'British' appears to stir up a lot of emotion in the average American boxing fan.
Yes mate, i agree. Seems to be the same bunch of posters aswell more often than not.
Had to flick between the channels tonight, so missed a few of the fights.
Callum Smith was impressive again, going to be a good fighter him.
His brother Liam was good aswell tonight. Ochieng looked good early on an it was a pretty even fight until the half way stage.
Some achievement for those brothers to hold 3 British titles and the same time...fair play to them.
Enjoyed Matthews fight (as usual), felt a KO was coming as Woodhouse was always going to stand and trade.
Only caught the end of the Chisora fight and missed Frankin Gavin altogether, so il catch them tomorrow.
The Ryder - Saunders fight was a close one..Ryder came on stronger than i expected towards the end.
Lots of these guys in this thread tonight huh?

Saunders won the UD, but looked crap.
Ryder only has himself to blame for starting slow and being passive in a few rounds.
Saunders didn't look in very good shape to me. I have a suspicion he thinks he's above this level now & cut corners.
He fights better with better opposition.
Although I have to admit I am biased due to being part Pikey myself.
"per capita" is not a measurement of "p4p." that's ridiculous.
it's a measurement of frequency in occurrence / total population.
america's case, badass boxers / total murrican population.
"per person"
it's a silly argument brought up by people who don't like america. there's a f#cking website dedicated to looking at the olympics in that manner. trinidad and tobago are the greatest olympic nations of all time under that system. it's retarded, and diminishes the accomplishments of nations based on the amount of people they've got.
america isn't only good at boxing and other sports because we're heavily populated. are india or china some great sporting nation? they're several times the size of the states.
americans are good at boxing because we're f#cking good at boxing. it's a petty tactic to attribute it to population size alone, and a tactic of those who aren't accomplished.
at least try and act like you know what you're talking about.
The fact that new zealand or whatever small country is overvalued when looking at their Olympic success per person doesn't invalidate the method. The reason these examples exist is because of variance, which becomes less of an issue when looking at much larger countries, which is what we are doing. Also, I believe you're missing my point about the p4p rankings.
Edit: Obviously America has great boxers and trainers. But their success is exaggerated by the USA's population; despite that they're still the leading nation in terms of historical results. What I don't understand why you want to have a dick measuring contest about an extremely niche sport which you probably don't have much of a personal stake in. It's all a little desperate.

Outside of Floyd and Ward, you don't really have any dominating champions. What's so great about American boxers at the moment?
Clearly, American boxers have been the best in most divisions over the years, but at the moment you don't have much. So what's the big deal?
