Most keep ignoring the fact that Alvarez had only 1 notable win and is only 23 years old. How well would Mayweather at the same age do against the #1 P4P fighter at the time: MOSLEY?
Would be interesting, It's up for grabs. FLoyd is a better boxer, but Shane is physically stronger and just as fast with a solid chin. The Shane that fought DLH would give Floyd some problems, as Floyd had good pop too and was lighting quick, but dont't think he would stand if Shane landed on his chin.
It would either be FLoyd on the cards, or Mosley by KO/TKO and he was more than capable of doing it, especially against a 23yr old.
Shane is MUCH faster. Floyd is quick, but he has never been in the OMG category of a Roy Jones, Hector Camacho, Shane Mosley, Meldrick Taylor, etc.
I think it would be a bad matchup Stylistically for Floyd. Mosley's hand speed in his prime was stupidly insane.
Young Floyd didn't mix offense and defense as well as he does now, and would have risked being overwhelmed by Mosley's speed like most people were.
You needed a great jab to give Mosley problems in his prime. That is one thing young Floyd didn't have.
Manny and mosley both turned down floyd fights when they were in their prime. NOTHING you post changes that. you'd be better off just admitting it.
Its 2013 adop2, hating floyd is still cool. but lying about him to validate your hatred isn't. Mosley and Manny are actual fighters. They know what floyd is capable of.
Floyd didn't want to fight Mosley. The proof is in the pudding but you are allergic to pudding!
Mosley had a planned vacation. Mosley told Floyd to do it a month or two later but Floyd, NOT Mosley, said NO! Yet you try to tell us that Floyd really wanted to fight Mosley? NO he wanted to fight Baldomir! Now take a spoon full of pudding and think about this next point. Floyd at that time stated that he was going to retire. If you were Floyd, would you have wanted Baldomir or Mosley on your record before you retire?
Like I said, talk is cheap when it comes to Floyd but some Floyd fans like to drink his Kool-Aid! Like I said, if Floyd really wanted those fights, they would have been made BUT Floyd didn't want and Ellerbe didn't approve those fights because the risks were too high!
A shot old De La Hoya nearly beat prime Floyd, yet prime Mosley loses by "wide UD" :lol1:. ****ing ridiculous :lol1:.
Another one who doesn't actually watch fights, but listens to the perverse opinions and outright stupidity of media commentators.
Dont know, but the prime Shane that beat Oscar two times, was ten times the fighter Floyd fougth
At the time I have never seen anyone faster, he blew everyone away, after 30 it whent south
Case could be made for both definitely. If its high speed chess fmj but if shane's body attack gets through shane can force a streetfight and shane walks fmj down
Yeah sure he did .... Floyd also wanted to fight Manny "Take the test and we have a fight"
Floyd wasn't every interested in fighting Mosley because if he was, the fight would NOT have taken place in 2010 when Mosley was OLD!!! Everyone would realize this except for non-objective Floyd fans that the fight would have happened earlier.
If Floyd really wanted to fight someone the fight would have been made. Mosley ducks no-one and you know it! Floyd is known to duck. Example, Floyd wanted to fight Baldomir not Margarito. So he fought Baldomir and never fought Margarito. Floyd fight is easy to make but it takes Floyd to say YES and the important part (drum roll) AND MEAN IT!!!!

Stop lying to the masses. Floyd always wanted to fight Shane. Just stop with the lies, lmao. You have me cracking up!

People act like Mayweather came into his prime at 147 ...you must be delusional... It'd be closer prime to prime if were talking about at lightweight. Mayweather was a monster there and very few would have a majority picking against May to win...mosley is not one of those few.
So Floyd just had a virtuoso performance against a stocky Canelo with slow feet and now people are saying he would have beaten a prime Mosley? Come on man!
While its true that Shane's "boxing IQ" doesn't match up to Floyd's (nobody does), a prime Mosley had every other ingredient to give Mayweather pure hell. Great chin, vicious body attack, great hand & foot speed, awesome power, heart & balls (first DLH fight as evidence). Your'e not gonna beat Mayweather by outboxing him. You have to force exchanges.
Let's not forget that Floyd's first fight at lightweight came against JL Castillo. Floyd backpedalled the whole fight and almost lost a close decision. Castillo had the chin and body attack necessary to trouble Floyd but the speed differential made a Castillo win too difficult. A prime Shane would've been all over Floyd. Sure he would've taken some jabs and counter rights, but as mentioned before Shane has a great chin (still does) and heart & balls.
At the time both Floyd and Shane were fighting on HBO but Shane was more marketable and Floyd was quickly becoming hard to deal with, calling his HBO contract, "slave wages" (remember?). Shane would have gotten the edge on the scorecards for being the aggressor, coming forward, and being more marketable. Shane by dec. :boxing:
Time to back up your statements ...... GO!!!
I can show you many many video clips but the best proof is go check out when they fought. In the middle of 2010 when Mosley is OLD and inactive. I'm sure that Mosley was waiting for himself to be old, right? NO!!! It was Floyd who made sure that the advantages are on his side and Ellerbe approved that fight knowing full well.
Floyd said "My game plan will take into account that Mosley is now OLD!!!"Stop lying to the masses. Floyd always wanted to fight Shane. Just stop with the lies, lmao. You have me cracking up!
Why don't you stop lying, lmao. Good God!

I told you to change your name to "Biased" .... you proved it again here
Floyd said what he said in 2000 time-frame because he knew that Mosley would be up a division or two to fight Oscar. So he could bark as loud as he wants because he knows that fight is not happening.
Sure he wanted Shane in 2006 even though he said I don't in late 2006 to 2009. There are video clips of Floyds saying "I don't want to fight Mosley....." and Mosley calling Floyd out many many times! Why don't you stop lying, lmao. Good God!
Well, he wanted a prime Mosley in 1999 and Sugar turned him down. Then he wanted Shane in 05-06, and Sugar turned him down.

Mayweather does not go into the ring with a prime Mosley (or any other fighter in their prime for that matter). He left how much "Money" on the table with a Pac fight? I think he has what it takes to beat a prime Pac but for some reason he wants nothing to do with him. Don't say it the drug test because that's not a hurdle.
Shane Mosley has always thrown looping punches with that superb hand-speed, too. So, yes, their hands could have been just as fast but Mayweather has always thrown more straight punches.
Matter of fact, since just about everyone going for Mosley has him knocking Mayweather out, I actually think we're in agreement. Mosley has the same puncher's chance that he had when they fought. If that chance never comes, he gets outboxed over 12.
Probably the same way Jones beat Toney at 168. Mosley at 135 was a freak of nature too. quick, fast, iron chin, powerful. Yes Mayweather was great but people act like the last Mosley Mayweather fight was even a indicator to how a prime vs prime would go down. Not even close man. That Mosley has been on life support since the day he became inactive after his win of Margarito. A prime 35 or 47 Mosley takes it to Mayweather all day.
There are ways Mosley may beat Mayweather prime for prime, but the way Jones beat Toney could not possibly be further from any of those ways.
