Saul Alvarez
Robert Guerrero
Miguel Cotto
Victor Ortiz
Shane Mosley
Juan Manuel Marquez
After a 2 year retirement which started in 2007, Mayweather returned to the ring in 2009 and has since fought 6 times. Which of his last 6 opponents put up the best fight? In other words, out of Mayweather's last 6 fights, which one was the closest?
Cotto gave Mayweather the most problems throughout the fight, while Mosley obviously had the greatest moments of success even though they were concentrated in a pair of rounds.
I'd give it to Cotto overall.
cotto bloodied him and shane stunned him, pacquiao would murder him
Bloodied him?? lol It was a bloody nose... What margarito did to Cotto in the first fight... That's gettin bloodied up...
Cotto was the only one that didn't get emotional in the ring. Floyd was in Ortiz's head and frustrated him and that's what led to the headbutt. Canelo couldn't hit Floyd and that's what led to that half-ass shoulder shrug to Floyd's chin. You gotta remove the emotion to beat this guy.
Easily cotto. He actually tried to go toe-to-toe with Mayweather. Everyone else tried to box, like idiots.
The Ghost tried.......if that's what you want to call that.
Well it's obvious you hate Ortiz for some reason. And it's obvious you like to start with people over the internet when their opinion isn't the same as yours. It's a waste of time talking to people like you who think their right all the time.
I think it is fair to debate "might have beens". Look, I don't think Ortiz would have done much but I agree he had better foot work and and seemed "stronger" in the ring with Mayweather of the 6 of anyone not named Cotto. That being said Ortiz didn't screw up. Ortiz mentally broke in that fight. He would have probably gotten knocked out. Once you let Mayweather in your head you stop being remotely competetive.
All this is fun but the answer to the poll is Cotto. Maybe it was because Mayweather fought the way he did but you can't take away the good work Cotto did.
Okay, than why are you so against me saying Ortiz was more competitive than Canelo? Canelo did absolutely nothing in his fight with Floyd. It was such a boring fight where Canelo did almost nothing. He won maybe 2 rounds at the very most. At least the Ortiz fight for while it lasted wasn't a snoozefest & Ortiz put up a fight for some of it until he screwed up.
Ortiz broke down mentally which I wish he would stop doing that maybe he wouldn't be the ass end of so many jokes. Canelo fought hard the whole fight and was actually able to match Floyds punch output when Floyd usually throws more punches than his opponents even though he barely punches himself.
I don't hate Ortiz I like him just fine in fact if you had any idea I was one of his biggest defenders after he lost to Maidana and Lopez. your opinions are just based on silly nonsense a bunch of coulda, woulda, shoulda.

Typical basing his decision on things that didn't happen!

This. If Ortiz didn't screw up like he did, he could have won a few more rounds throughout the fight.

Ortiz had an underrated performance against Floyd. At least Ortiz managed to win a round and demonstrated a better ability to cut off the ring than Canelo and he showed a lot more foot speed than Guerrero too.
Ugh Canelo won more then one round and Im not talking about CJ Ross's card. On who's card did Ortiz win a round on? Yours LOL!! Ortiz had a mental fuking breakdown in the biggest fight of his career and then got knocked out because he wasn't looking. yeah Id rather be Canelo then victor anyday of the week.
Ortiz was not going to beat Floyd, but he sure showed a lot better foot work than Canelo and Guerrero. He was beginning to throw more volume before he got stupid in the 4th round. The rounds that Ortiz lost in against Floyd were the ones he still looked competitive in.
I agree. No way was Ortiz going to beat him, but his fight vs. Floyd was more exciting to watch than Canelo by far. And like you said his foot work was way better than Canelo & Guerrero. Canelo's fight was the most boring by far of the 6 choices. I'd rather watch the Guerrero or Marquez fights again over the Canelo fight. It was so damn one sided & boring throughout.

You can see Floyd outlanded Ortiz in every round and the number of landed punches was rising with each passing round. Ortiz couldn't land shit on Floyd either, that's why he headbutted him and that's why he decided to quit after Floyd's retaliation.
I agree with all that except the quit part. The dude was knocked out. Oscar not even trying to get up is my definition of quitting, even though it really might have been the worst pain ever. At least look like you are trying to get up. lol
