Anyone think that knockdown on lucas was kinda odd?

It wasn't a knockdown in the slightest. Matthysse didn't even get punched in the back of the head- it was an open gloved grab by Garcia which yanked Matthysse into the ropes. The ref should've paused the fight at that point

weeks stopped the fight when garcia was badly hurt in order to give him time to recover but lets lucas get tangled in the ropes without stepping in. all you can say is lol. LOL. This guy. So Matthysse got robbed for the 3rd time. He's really 37-0 now.

I don't care what anyone says that fight was close and a rematch can be argued. Feed him to Mayweather. Excuses. Garcia was throwing sharp counter punches and bombs with Lucas the whole fight. A fight in which people thought he wouldn't make it past the early rounds. Give the man his props.

If your opponent throws a punch and you expose the back of your head to the punch then thats your fault. The same thing happened with the Bradley vs Peterson knockdown. You cant come charging in with your face pointed down trying to hide your chin get caught on the side of the head or the back of it and cry that you got rabbit punched.

wtf stop being in denial to al lucas fans. He got put down by two punches and he was going anyway. He was lucky not to be stopped.

If that had had of happened, do you think it would have been unfair for Lucas to have got the decision? Well, that was a 9-8 round for Garcia, he got 1 point deducted for low blows. So -if- the referee doesn't call the KD and -if- he gives a point deduction to Garcia , then Matthysse would have gotten a 10-8 round. I don't think that would have been fair. I actually agree with both decisions taken by the referee. Garcia was fighting a "dirty" (in a boxing sense) fight and the point deduction after so many fauls was called for. As for the knock down, with that hugely swollen eye Matthysse looked epic, reminded me a bit of La Motta in his "st valentine's massacre" against SRR :D . I'd have to watch it again, but it looked a legit KD to me. It was a good, competitive fight.

The punch that caused him to go into the ropes? Hitting someone behind the head? I was being sarcastic. I'm not talking about any punch. There was no punch behind the head. Lucas ducked underneath right hand and Garcia turned him into the ropes, side stepped him scored the knockdown.

if you look at the replay it wasnt really a knockdown just more off balance and getting tangled in the ropes nothing solid ever landed

It looked to me more like Matthysse went down on his own trying to protect himself due to the spot he was in. Not saying that is was a coward move or anything, just saying he probably took the dive to avoid some real damage. Only he would know!

Im honestly surprised the ref called it a knockdown, Garcia literally threw lucas into the ropes, and that caused him to get tangled in the rope and get hit. When Lucas got thrown into the ropes, the ref should have been in there to break the action. It was not Matthysse's fault or even Danny's fault. As soon as he got stuck in there, the ref should have been there. That was a ref failure. To me it was not a legit knockdown. Matthysse was trapped and had to go down to avoid taking more shots. He was not hurt.

it wasn't a very legit knockdown, but matthysse didn't complain about it...and i did remember seeing a punch land
