im probably watching it in a movie theater, they told me they will sell beer, last time after the pacquiao-marquez fight my place looked like sheet, 3 pukes (one mine) lots of beer spilled in my carpet and I counted like 4 cig burns in my couch... the sight of pacquiao flattened was priceless tho..
on the other hand I don't want to risk a DWI and a night in the slammer...
decisions, decisions.....
Lol. This is going to be a Boring fight.
This is like Floyd vs Baldomir all over again..
Slow motion flat footed fighter vs a runner = Boring fight.
Huh?

85% of Floyd's fights are boring. Nowadays, people are only buying his PPVs to watch him lose and because of his WWE persona in the lead-up to the fight. Then everyone walks away disappointed when he stinks out the joint. Remember everyone booing during the Baldomir fight?
I don't think Floyd, Oscar, or Manny are well known among "average Americans" either. Average Americans aren't going to be the ones to buy this fight. It will be the 2 million die-hard, new school, old school, fringe fans that will buy this fight, and another million or so that go to theaters and bars or to Vegas to watch it. The "average Americans" will be the ones that show up at the party out of curiosity or to get phucked up and have fun and to be a part of something with a buzz that involves violence.
1.5 million die hards would buy this fight no matter the promotion; it's the other 500, 000 they are trying to find and motivate right now to put this thing over the top. We'll see if all of this promotion pays off. Based on how quickly the fight sold out, and based on the attendance for their tour spots, it seems more likely than not, that this fight will get close to 2 million, imo.
Non-Die Hard fans or "Average Americans" bought Oscar fights. This fight won't get 2 mil.

I don't know to many people that don't know who Canelo is personally; he has been on 3 of Floyds undercards people know who is; he's not Manny popular but he's getting there and if he beats Floyd he will be bigger than Manny.
Canelo is not that well known to the average American. Nowhere near on the level of a de LA hoya, mayweather, pacquiao

If he blasts Floyd, everyone will know Canelo. Right now they just know "that red-headed Mexican kid".
He's popular in Mexico and amongst boxing fans. Stand on some random corner for an hour and ask people who Canelo is. You might get two positive responses. This fight is happening too soon. Floyd's last fight flopped, so that's why we're getting it now. They should have let this one brew a bit, maybe should have been Floyd's last fight. Oh well. Still gonna be a great night of boxing for me, cuz I love boxing.

You guys got to remember that 2007 was a very special time; the "black box" that people in the hood used to watch free PPV fights was gone, but streaming fights online was nowhere near where it is today.
I don't think that amount of buys will ever happen again, to be honest.
How can he be very popular but no ones him. By now everybody knows who he is and more will know before Saturday night

I'm with you, it might get 1.4... won't break 2 mil. When Oscar and Floyd fought, Oscar was the PPV King, with somewhere near 10 PPVs and Floyd was already well known at that point having headlined some PPVs of his own. As popular as Canelo is, no one in America knows of him, only boxing fans. I'm even inclined to say it'll get surprisingly low PPV buys.

I can see 1.2-1.4 million buys nothing more. You guys over rate the casual fans Interest in boxing fights nowadays ontop of the high price with this economy. It will sell because of Maywesther and the Mexicans with Canelo.
It'll do similar or close to the number with the Cotto fight. 2mil is Pac-Mayweather level. Not canelo.

I think at least it does 1.75 million but probably closer to 2 million.

Canelo has more Mexican fans in American then Cotto has fans in America.

Guys, forgive this Matthysse bandwagon clown/Margarito fan. Nobody respects his opinion. Look at what he just said, lmao.
Lol, I hate Margarito.
Refute my statement. You can't, and you know it's true.:dance:

This is not getting 2m buys in the stream era..
Streaming was going on back when Floyd and Oscar fought also. I think if this fight was on HBO and HBO had a CBS type backer, it would easily hit 2 million, but on Showtime, who knows. I think that is the biggest detourant; not the streaming. I think most will pay...with the pacboys and teenagers opting for the stream.
Streaming sucks though if you're really into the fight. Only bad ppv's are worth a stream, imo...and this obviously doesn't qualify as that...especially with the Garcia vs. Matthysse fight on the card.

During the Alabama vs Texas A&M football game this weekend, which is a huge event itself, not only should CBS/Showtime show a bunch of commercials they should do some live segments with the Showtime crew in Vegas.
Ya that is by far the biggest game of the weekend. Last year ALabama vs Georgia did 16m viewers. This has Johnny football in it. The same game last year did 10m when he was still relatively unknown. It's probably going to get upwards of 15m viewers..
I know they are doing commercials. Are you saying they should do live segments, or are they doing live segments? That would be sick.
