It didn't matter whether he was out of shape or not, he was willing to fight anyone. I think his willingness to fight the best and even go out of his comfort zone to do so was Ali-like. Very few would put themselves in that kind of size disadvantage. Lets remember Duran was at his best at 135. at his best, and perhaps the best ever at the weight.
