Why can't (some) posters here distinguish a past prime fighter and a "shot" fighter?

Some people don't use their brains as much as they should. I think a good portion of people use Bscene as a outlet...that's why there are so many troll threads I agree. There are also a lot of posters who are more fans of an individual fighter than the sport itself, which is dumb to me. Boxing >> Any individual fighter.

past prime fighter would be morales vs manny 2,3 shot fighter would be morales vs garcia 2 past prime would be hopkins now shot would be roy jones the last 5 years past prime fighter can still get a win vs top level guys like shane vs margs, morales vs manny 1, hopkins vs pavlik, tarver,,, they just cant string along wins in a row, hence why hopkins lost to taylor, calzaghe, dawson... shot fighter cant win any fight at the top level like roy jones the past few years, cotto hasnt had a legit big win since 07,, i guess you could count the clottey win from 09...

Wlad - somehow still prime (surely nearing the end though), Vitali - past it, Shannon The asthma cannon Briggs - shot. Floyd-not prime but not past it, Pac - past it, Marquez - well and truly past it, Morales - shot. "Floyd not prime but not past it"?What the hell is that suppose to mean?Either you are prime or past your prime,There`s nothing in between.Floyd is past his prime but he`s far from shot.

Agreed, people need to make a distinction between prime, shot and what "peak" actually means. When a fighter is at his peak, or any athlete for that matter, they are t their absolute best during a period of their prime, a fighters peak is a portion of their prime. then you have periods before and after a fighters prime, for example, hopkins was pre-prime in the RJJ fight and at his absolute peak during the Tito fight. Cotto was primed and peaked against Mosley and Marg, slightly past prime by the time he faced Manny but very well past his prime by the time he fought Floyd but not shot. I still don't think Cotto is shot right now. Mosley though, is a shot fight and has been since after Marg, in the Marg fight he was almost shot but pulled out one last great performance. I think the best example of a post prime fighter who isn't quite shot yet is Vitali Klitschko. Cotto looked a lot faster and a lot sharper in the Mayweather fight then in the Pacquiao fight.I`m sure most people whose not bias would agree that Cotto looked slow in the Pacquiao fight.Also MAyweathe is past his prime also.Just because he continues to look spectacular that don`t mean he`s still in his prime.

example of shot Jermain Taylor in his last fight Past prime Manny, Floyd, Hopkins, Marquez, Cotto, despite still being good fighters anyone following these guys careers know they are not at their best, which says alot about all the guys just listed seeing as how somway they are still finding ways to beat guys much younger than themselves and some in their primes

Shot is Erik Morales that fought Maidana, Cano, and he was basically a walking corpse by the time he fought Danny Garcia. Shot is Rafael Marquez who lost to Efrain Esquivias. Rafa punches look so slow and he was gassed, he didn't have those sharp power fast combos he used to have, his punches look like quick sand punches. Carlos Baldomir who fought Canelo was shot
