Here in the UK whenever there is an ethnic fighter a significant number of fans seem to come out with racist diatribes- go to any YouTube video of Khan and you will see what I mean. I remember a while ago I was at a girls house and Khan was on the telly, it was one of his early fights, and the girl I was with said why is he waving a British flag about as he is not British...
Naz use go get some of the same hate. Black fighters don't seem to be hated as much.
Boxing appears to be one of those sports divided amongst racial lines for many people.
So my question is are American fans the same/worse or is it less of an issue? What are your thoughts on this?
America is a melting pot, the problem is that every body in the pot thinks their sh*t is the sh*t so it's not actually that much racism just a lot of people with stupid ideas of what they should be proud of...like the random act of the place where you come out of a vagina....I believe pride should be for something you earn not some random thing like the block where you are born etc. I been to the UK briefly to visit but it was as a tourist so i cant really say much if anybody didnt like me for anything else than me being an asshole tourist i wouldn't know.
As someone that lived both in USA and UK, I can say UK is FAR more racist in all aspects. Both the people and the government.
Can you imagine the American government paying for vans driving around the cities telling immigrants they are not welcomed and that they should leave at once? Thats standard practice in England.
I've yet to hear of American fans booing another nation's anthem
brits did it to the American anthem and were made to pay dearly as britiain's favorite son got knocked out in cartoonlike fashion
anyways, calling American fans racist is silly. These are the people who will back a fighter from another country over an American
Didn't know that booing someone's anthem equals racism.
While you bring up a relevant point here, I still think that a lot of the "racial" motivated homicides is overblown.
I'm not saying it doesn't happen, though.
Exactly it's not the 1940's anymore racial crime is probably at it's lowest point in the history of the country. People get on the Internet and get more racially disrespectful but thats about it.
I would attribute that more to gun laws. The U.K. probably has one of the strictest gun laws in the world and thus has the lowest gun related homicide rates in the world. The U.S. is the complete opposite in that regard.

You don't here many stories about people being killed because of their colour in England unlike the US

Those cases are way overblown, in this day in age. Makes great fodder for the cable television talking heads, and shit stirrers on this very board.
But yes, there are cases of it happening, due in part to the incredible racial and ethnic diversity over here in the States.
Aw yeah
I think the UK can be more aggressive with their racism sometimes lol

alright that was a good point
the amazing Black athlete is something we're familiar and comfortable with in America
Yeah but idk what's going on with the white guys these days. They are not boxing at all. They are all doing MMA.
UK by a landslide, it seems to me like racism isn't as frowned upon over there.
I remember they booed the USA national anthem before the Floyd Hatton fight and recently they booed the Russian national anthem when cleverly fought Drago.

What does a national anthem have to do with race?

At least one of those women was prosecuted but what do they have to do with boxing?
You may as well post a video of the KKK and say US boxing fans are racist, it makes about much sense i.e. none.
As for racism among Americans when it comes to boxing, I've rarely seen it happen
you got whites who like black fighters, blacks who like Mexican fighters, asians who like black fighters, etc
Not to diss any white american posters here but they have no choice but to support the black Americans bcuz there isn't any white American boxers to like.
Boxing is a racist sport, its the way it is.
If you don't like it watch golf.
Lol exactly. Boxing is like World Cup soccer or football for the non Americans.
