Im want opinions from logical people, non floyd haters please..
I just looked at the Trout Canelo fight again.. And i just dont see how Canelo is going to win.. He fights in spurts, takes rounds off.. Has a mediocre jab at best.. Hes predictable and mechanical and has basic speed/ borderline slow..
I see Floyd keeping the fight in the outside and doing what he always does. Pot shot, stomach jab and being elusive after he throws..
I think Canelo is too slow to do anything about it..
Cotto and Oscar gave Floyd fits because they both had grade A jabs, canelo doesnt have that.. I see canelo being gasses and frustrated by round 7..
But what the hell do I know. Im giving an honest opinion.. If this fight happened before Floyd vs Cotto and trout vs canelo, i would have given Canelo a much better chance. Because like everyone else, i thought floyd lost his legs.. But after the Ghost fight, that obviously isnt the case.. I think Floyd Sr has him being less aggressive and more defensive which is bad news for Canelo.. Less opening for him
Its pretty straight forward on how Canelo wins this fight. He has to catch Floyd and finish him off. There's no way in hell that Canelo outboxes Floyd for a 12 round victory.
i think he can win if he stays on top of floyd and applies smart pressure.pound awat when floyd is on the ropes and stay busy.we know floyd likely cant hurt him but he can hurt floyd so he also has to take some risks
He has a PUNCHERS CHANCE and Maybe A Prayer that Mayweather get injured during the fight or he gets Old Overnight and starts to show his AGE
The problem with preparing for Mayweather, you really don't know what he will do or how he will even fight Canelo. We are all assuming that he will fight exactly like he fought against Guerrero and that is not even a Guarantee. Floyd could come out and surprise a lot of people including Canelo and do something Canelo wasn't prepared for and expose all of Canelo's weaknesses and show that he is not as "POWERFUL" as people think
It is no doubt in my Mind that Mayweather can still outbox Canelo INSIDE IN THE POCKET and still make him miss and still roll and counter all of his punches because Canelo is not that fast or quick
I think the size can be a disadvantage for Canelo actually because he is not a good fighter inside, how is he going to "BULLY MAYWEATHER INSIDE" when he is not a good Inside Fighter nor is Canelo a "PRESSURE FIGHTER" also he lacks HEAD MOVEMENT I think Mayweather will be able to land what ever punch he wants against Canelo and while everybody is talking about Canelo's "Body Punches"...Watch out for Mayweather's Body Punches, that Quick Jab to the Stomach is what made Oscar De La Hoya put away his Jab and it is a Very Underrated Punch from Mayweather. Canelo stamina is not that Greet if he can't hurt Mayweather early or fight a way to land clean punches on his Early it is going to get ugly and turn into a Clinic VERY QUICK
People are just expecting Canelo to walk though Mayweather Punches, Apply Pressure and Land With His Power...it is not going to be that easy
Who Canelo fought, beat or knocked down in previous fights don't even matter because none of them have the talent or the skills as Mayweather...NOT EVEN CLOSE! As for Mayweather he has seen fighters just as big if not BIGGER then Canelo who had MORE POWER, MORE SPEED and MORE SKILLS
Who has Floyd fought that comes to the ring 170 + lbs, that has skill, youth, and power? Canelo is not slow, ask Austin Trout that. Also how can you say he doesn't have head movement after the Trout fight? Floyd has the speed advantage but its not as wide as many think, this ain't slow Carlos Baldimer or a blown up slow Cotto, Canelo throws fast hard combinations. Floyd has the foot speed advantage and he better use it and keep moving and not get caught on the ropes or else he will get hurt, mark my words.

What people don't seem to understand is that Trout is a huge 54 pounder, he is about 5'10 and came into the ring weighing more than Canelo. Canelo fights small fighters like Floyd different than he fights bigger guys like Trout. He will not wait and try to outbox Floyd, he will bully him like he did Lopez. Tell me this, how is Floyd going to keep Canelo off of him? The only chance he has is to use a lot of movement because if he sits in the pocket and tries to use his defense against Canelo, that won't work. Floyd doesn't hit hard enough to keep Canelo off of him in the pocket. He may land 1 or 2 shots, but thats not going to stop Canelo from landing his heavy blows.
How? Use his size. Back Mayweather up with a consistent jab. Unload combos, back up and cut off the ring. Adjust as Mayweather adjusts. I think Canelo has shown the ability to do all of that. If he can put it together, he will win..
Work the body - Forget the head besides jabs for the half of the fight.
Jabs - The jabs will disturb his rhythm and it's one of the few punches which you can land on his face consistently.
Feints - Floyd reacts to almost every shot you throw or look to throw, a lot of times he jumps back trying to get away from punching distance. That's where you close the distance and can force him to the ropes, you can also explode forward and get your shots off when he's not in a position to counter.
Left hook to the body - Floyd loves to duck shots and it's always to his right, after either a jab or feint you gotta throw that left hook to the body.
Center mass - When Floyd goes into the Philly shell you throw to the chest and bread basket. When he's on the ropes you finish with that left hook to the body because he tends to lean to his right and left hook to the body will be open.
After 6 rounds you start mixing it up little by little to the head but you keep beating the drums. The key is to try to make every shot count and make contact, that's why you're avoiding throwing upstairs early because he has it down so pat you are going to miss most the shots and get tired.
Another thing is mix in some jabs right hands to his left shoulder when he's in the shell defense, after punishing that shoulder round after round it might slow his jab down or hurt his shoulder. Roy Jones stopped Derrick Harmon after 10 rounds because he started targeting the shoulder early when he saw he couldn't hit him clean.
If I was a trainer this would be the game plan I would make.

Canelo has outstanding boxing ability. He is well balanced and punches with precision and power. He has an excellent jab and a variety of punches. Left hook, right cross, uppercut and jab. Mayweather at this point in his career is not a combination puncher. He will move around a try to potshot, but Canelo will eventually land a telling body blow.
After Mayweather feels the shock of that brutal blow a crack will start in his defense that will make it leaky. He will be so concerned will not taking another shot like that, I can see Canelo landing something hard to the head. Shots that Mayweather is unaccustomed to. Canelo's supposed to have horrible stamina, which is strange because he hasn't lost any fights because of this.
While Floyd's fan breathlessly wait for the 7th round and Canelo to "gas", something weird will occur, Floyd will seem to be the one who is ragged and weary, and Canelo appearing fresh. Floyd's era is about to end. He will be toppled by either TKO or well-earned decision.
You seem to have your mind made up that Canelo does not have a chance to win. The world will find out in two weeks. Yuo might think I am a Floyd hater. I don't like him but I give him credit for being a great fighter but not unbeatable. I think Canelo will win by KO or on points. He will use the speed you say he does not have to beat Mayweather combined with a good defense. He will use fast accurate combinations to the head and body. I believe his jab is also better than you say it is and he will use it to get in range to throw deadly combinations with many of the punches digging hard to the body.I don't think he will gas out. His stamina is not that bad. He threw about 700 punches in the Mosley fight. He is training very hard at 7000 feet and will be in the best shape of his life.Floyd is a great fighter and if Canelo fails to defeat him it's no disgrace but I think Canelo will win.
Floyd is waiting to catch the jab with his right hand and counter. The right uppercut is the shot in my opinion because it will force Floyd to change the position of his right hand to block, and consequently it could possibly open him up for the left hook.
Floyd is great at figuring his opponent out as the fights go on, so above all I think you need to have the ability to mix it up to keep him guessing.
Easier said than done of course! You have to be a very sharp shooter to beat Floyd as his reflexes are so quick.
The crowd is Canelo's only hope. Nobody can force Papa Smurf to fight. The only guy that could corner him might be GGG. Papa Smurf can tag and run anybody all night...and don't give a rat's ass.
How can the crowd help? Booooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo! THAT may get in Floyd's head & force him to do something...that may prove fatal.
Throwing with Floyd/Making Floyd lead won't work IMO because Canelo does not have the speed of foot to make it work. It would be a good strategy, but I'm personally not a fan of Canelo's plodding sluggish footwork.
He has to be planted while throwing his punches which gives Mayweather enough time to use his superior footwork and evade. It's not like Mayweather throws a bunch of punches either so he'd rarely be caught off balance or caught in an exchange in the first place. He also knows when to change his rhythm up and how to throw off speed so it is very hard to time him. Canelo's stamina also has to be taken into account of a strategy that involves pressure and countering.
Counter evertime Floyd throws a shot. Whether you miss or not, throw as soon as Floyd throws.
Intelligent pressure. Regardless of how well Floyd moves and boxes, he ALWAYS has a tendency to get trapped on the ropes. Floyd isn't a big guy like Trout, Canelo will have the strength advantage. Trap him, use dirty tricks, whatever. Make him uncomfortable and rip shots to the body when he's against the ropes.
Speed is key. Canelo is a quicker counter puncher and offensive puncher than Cotto. That's gonna play a major role. Like I said earlier, punch with Floyd, set traps. Let him throw more than 1 shot.
If he does his usual right hand lead and duck, parry or slip the shot, and immediately get in his chest. Being the bigger guy, Canelo should have success with this.
Don't chase or try too hard to cut the ring off. Counter/punch with him, when Floyd backs up, immediate rush.
I really dont see him winning to be honest, I dont think his strengths or his style match up well with Mayweather, so unless FMjr has aged over night i expect him to take a clear UD.
But for Canelo to win imo he needs to tweek his style slightly and do a sh*tload of training for stamina. He is going to have the sizeadvantage on fight night so i do think intelligent pressure is right game plan. Trying to outbox Mayweather from the outside is a no go imo. He needs to use feints, headmovement and a strong jab to try work his way inside and try let off those big powerful combo's he loves to body and head. Problem he has is that is a style we havent really seen him use before, and against a Mayweather who seems to have his movement back it's going to require crazy amounts of stamina to pull off. He will also take punishment no matter what, to body and head, so he needs to hope his size advantage negates that somewhat.
If he trys to box cautious like he did in the Trout fight i think it will be a very long night for him!
