I know this thread has probably been done in the past. But in your opinion, which of these guys was harder to beat. Neither really lost (Griffin, and Castillo 1st fight close, aside) in their prime, and were very dominant.
P4P I think Roy was faster and had genuine KO power which along with his speed and reflexes was his main defence. Fighters were scared to attack him in a reckless way because they would expose themselves to possibly being KO'd.
With Floyd I think he is a more technical fighter and superior to Roy in that aspect. He nullifies his opponents using his shoulder roll, and outstanding defence. I also think he is a smarter fighter, but obviously didnt carry that same punishing power.
Thoughts?...
I think the standout wins are Hopkins and Toney. I think that would be similar to Floyd dominating a young Oscar, or Mosley at 135. It is really hard to argue against those results from Jones. I do see where the Floyd advocates are coming from, from a technical and skill standpoint, Floyd is kind of like a combination of Jones and Hopkins, but Roy was just so damn gifted, he makes Floyd seem like a basic fighter. It's a really close call, but I'm leaning towards Jones at his very best.
In his prime, Jones would never barely beat a Castillo equivalent, he would dominate and stop him. But that's skills and power combined. Toney and Hopkins were far superior to Castillo pound for pound and Jones clearly won those fights.
Floyd in his prime was too smart.
He'd easily avoid all of his prime opponent's punches because he'd never get into a ring with them in the first place.
I'm a bigger Floyd fan and admire his style more but Roy. Roy's a once in a lifetime freak of nature. What he did to James Toney is one of the most ridiculous things I've ever seen. It was like some kind of magic trick in Vegas where they make a plane disappear.
Roy Jones jr did not have a great defence. If he had fought and defeated Michalczewski i'd more more inclined to pick Jones 'easily' or think 'it ain't even close'.
Id say floyd... But floyd has showed that he is as close to unbeatable as it gets.

Please kill yourself for saying something this ignorant.
A lot of past greats would like to have a talk with you, and they'd probably rearrange your jaw for saying something so blasphemous.
Roy Jones...he mastered his own unique style catered to his outstanding attributes as an athlete. The most physically gifted fighter in boxing...IMO the best counterpuncher i had ever seen...at 160-168 had legit one punch kayo power...p4p had the fastest hands, feet and reflexes ever....He had sound fundamentals, olympic pedigree and handcuffed his opponents. Mayweather outclassed guys but they still tried....roy either knocked you out or put you in survival mode by the 3rd round....by the time he reached 175 he would just cruise and make you look foolish to a UD12
Id say floyd... Its tuff because I think roy is p4p one of the best fighters ever. He completely disposed of toney and hopkins and those are legit fighters that would be champs in any era. But floyd has showed that he is as close to unbeatable as it gets.

Floyd Mayweather. Roy Jones jr looked more spectacular at his best than Mayweather at his best but Jones had flaws that Mayweather simply didn't/doesn't have.

I would say Floyd (especially a prime Floyd) is a little more difficult to beat then a prime Jones, because Floyd is more well rounded then any version of Roy Jones, especially at Junior lightweight.Floyd at junior lightweight hit very hard, and that was in his addition to his very advanced boxing skills.
I chose floyd, just for the simple fact that he is more fundamentally sound and has faced better competition,,,,,
H2H i think roy would beat floyd,,, but overall who is a tougher out, i think it is floyd,,,
to good at everything to be beat by someone his size,,,,,,
roy got troubled by griffith in the first fight, and also got dropped by del valle,,,
Those things would never happen to floyd,, to good on defense
