We all know that boxing has been on a decline since the tyson era and only mayweather is really keeping it alive, mainly because the casuals want to see him get ko'd because of his arrogance. Dela Hoya has been looking into the success of the ufc and is planning on using part of its model for golden boy promotions. using proper ranking systems, making the fighters actually fight people the fans want to see and making the live shows more entertaining for the fans between fights. The question is can golden boy help make boxing more popular again to the casuals or does boxing need another heavyweight like tyson.
Also, the popular mma site bloodyelbow.com has been covering a lot of boxing this year. Just shows that the interest is there. I see people having knowledgable boxing discussions on that site.
Yeah I cover both boxing and MMA for ringtalk.com and I can honestly say boxing has had the more compelling matchups over the last few years. 2013 especially, boxing has been killing MMA. This is the best year of boxing in a while.

You are 100% correct. I recently had a discussion with some of the MMA fighters in my gym and they were telling me how in the past 2-3 years, boxing has put on better fights than MMA.
Oscar and GB are changing the game, they are making better PPV's, better matchups and we are seeing it.
boxing isn't declining, it's just fine
dumbasses think the world revolves around the HW title
people aren't excited by the Klits, so boxing is "dead/dying/declining"
bullshit, the sport is ok and it's not going anywhere
soon Pac and Floyd will be gone and we'll get more sport than business
boxing hardly wilted after Tyson fell apart
perfectly said

Not co-promoting doesn't save sh1t, and i'm so sick of this boxing needs saving/is dying narrative. F-off out of here casual fan. You don't know shi1t.
It's got nothing to do with mma fanboys you clown, it is about boxing getting more success from the ufc model of one promotion having all the best fighters signed under it so the fighters have no excuse not to fight the best.
You think this is "the ufc model?"...jeez way to lift your skirt and show how little you know about the history of boxing.
go look at a don king card from the 80s...the UFC didnt invent the best fighting the best, kid.
I can't stand MMA fagboys that don't know shit about boxing infiltrating the forums with stupid threads like this.
I would rather read Stax On Deck threads for the rest of the year.

If boxing is to become all it can be, the best needs to fight the best, only then will casual people stay up all night just to watch 30 minuts or less of fighting.
Boxing can be such a aniticlimax for many people, as soon as somone breaks through, the start boxing ones a year against handpicked apponents
That is the sure fire way of turning fans away.
But this last year as been much better, and Oscar has a great deal to do with it
I respect what he is doing
This^^ Golden boy will start to change all this hand picked fights once a year crap when they start to monopolise the sport. It needs to happen, give the fans what they want, more quality fights.

This is the dumb part. The other part doesnt make this part true.

You have no idea what you are talking about and you contradicted yourself big time.
Someone pull the plug on this thread.
So are you saying the owner of Golden boy, Oscar Dela Hoya does not know what he is talking about because I am basically just repeating what he has said himself. now get off my thread you can.

The way Golden Boy is rolling right now I wouldn't be surprised if they make a play for Top Rank in 3 to 4 years. Bradley, Rigo, and others have been public about their rifs with Bob Arum. That has to damage TR's reputation a little bit. And the way Al Haymon and Richard Shaefer are aligned right now monopolization is a real possibility down the line.
Lets hope so, that would be awesome to have one leading promotion in boxing with all the top fighter signed with them.
Ye thats the biggest problem at the moment with boxing, its difficult to put great fights together that the fans want to see because of promoters. Golden boy should try and monopolise the sport like the ufc did, so all fighters can fight eachother, not just the ones in their promotions.

It's easy for the UFC because they control 95% of the MMA talent out there. And as the company grew they bought out all their competitors and were able to monopolize the sport. Here's an idea. Just go tell Bob Arum to sell his company to Golden Boy. Boom easy fix right there.

HW boxing has been on the decline; boxing best PPV usually outells the UFC best PPV.
Yes but the ufc is more consistent with its ppv's. Oscar said he wants that with golden boy, putting on much more fan pleasing fights on every card. He has done a great job with the this next event.
