Whitaker definitely beat Chavez and Ramirez the first time...IMO the fight with Oscar could have gone either way or been a draw...it wasnt a travesty. If you look at their resumes they are comparable. Both are about dead even in skill, top 5 defensive fighters all time and very underrated offensively and great counter punchers. Mastered the Nuances of the sport....defeated 17 world champions ( if you exclude the WBO) World champions/ Titlists defeated: Mayweather: 17, Whitaker: 14 Lineal titles: Mayweather:3(130, 135, 145) Whitaker: 2(135, 147) Alpabet titles in weight class: Mayweather, 5....Whitaker, 4 top 5 official wins: Mayweather: ODLH, Hatton, G. He deserves to past PEA Who is one of my all time favs lol The only lineal title Mayweather won was the one he beat Baldomir for. He refused to fight Casamayor to unify the super featherweight belt. He only won the WBC lightweight tile and wouldn't unify. He fought for a paper title at super lightweight while the linear champ Tszyu was given the cold shoulder. Why don't we all just hand out lineal titles to our favorite fighters.

Floyd gets smoked by Whitaker, who ya'll kidding...... My son just watched this video with me, and the part at 1:32 where Pea evades DLHs punches, he says enthusiastically, "DDDAAAANNNGGGG!! How did he do that?" The only advantage Floyd may have had, was power, and thats a maybe. Pea was just better at everything and never, ever ducked or made excuses not to fight anyone.

Remind me, when was Mayweather an undisputed champion? At any weight? Though rarely thought of in these parts, unifying all the belts at any certain weight does a lot for a fighters legacy and resume when considering his place in history.

Skill for skill, Pernell by a hair, due to not having to hold and clinch in the pocket, and being better at defense/offense fluidity. Resume, not even close.

anyone who thinks pernell whitaker is better or even on floyd's level, has never watched pernell and has only watched youtube clips.... pernell was a great champion.... but floyd's more complete.... southpaws always have an advantage.... they're always more awkward from a purely technical standpoint... added to that all southpaws vary stylistically so you can't really prepare as well, cos you can't get the sparring... pernell would have never been as defensively good had he been an orthodox fighter.... floyd's textbook brilliant and then some, he's slick, he's quick and he's a master. It's not by a landslide but beating greats like Nelson and Chavez as impressively as Whitaker did is more than any win Mayweather can account for. Vers is right though, Floyd has dominated the best available opposition out there and is expected to face the Garcia-Matthysse winner granted he gets past Canelo...it's insane that Floyd is still going this hard after so many years. Still, Whitaker is clearly the greater fighter.
