as he lost to Canelo?
Is this how the Canelo haters saved themselves from being completely embarressed because they were completely wrong and were proven clueless?
I want answers!!! How is that a fighter is givn so much praise and then the play it off like they never gave him praise in the first place?
I think you make valid points. My only counter would be, when is the last time Floyd fought someone who could really pressure him or walk him down? He has been fighting guys that he could easily avoid and didn't have the footwork to force Floyd into their pace. DLH in the early rounds? Cotto had some moments but Floyd controlled the pace of that fight, Cotto was reacting for the most part.
I think that's what makes this a great matchup. I give Floyd some props for taking the challenge (BS catchweight not withstanding). He is facing a bigger guy in his physical prime. Canelo will have to be much more active than he showed against Trout but that comes down to training the right way. Canelo could get schooled but I think if he wins we have seen stranger things happen. How many of us on these boards predicted JMM destroying Pac a few months back?
It's an interesting style clash nonetheless, Canelo has deceptively fast hands, very good counter puncher as well so Floyd has to be sharp. He can feint real well too, and Judah was the last person who had a ton of success in baiting Floyd. I think Floyd's footwork is what Canelo will struggle with most, then breaking through the defense. Like the Guerrero fight I'm not expecting Floyd to use the left hook much, it's gonna be straight punches entirely.

Because over here at NSB, everyone is a bum after they lose
It's not that Canelo will be defenseless in the mid rounds, it's that Mayweather doesn't lose steam and will remain sharp. Also Floyd will move around freely as Canelo is a patient stalker, so the bold sounds kind of ridiculous to me.

Pretty funny how it all played out.
First people on these boards were saying Canelo was ducking Trout, swore he would never take the fight.
Some went so far as to say that he was calling out Floyd to actually duck Trout!!!
Then Canelo takes the fight, was a great event to be at in SA.
If anyone thinks Canelo didn't win that fight comfortably then I am sure you think that Pauli beat Broner as well.
One thing I have learned by reading this board is that all the fighters are hypejobs, bums and overrated. That includes the most famous and accomplished fighters of all time. So regardless of the fighter, somebody says that fighter is a hypejob.
I kind of knew Canelo would beat Trout. It was a closer fight than the one judge had it but I don't think it was razor close either. Canelo's punches had much more impact than Trout's even though there were fewer of them. But Trout is a good fighter.
Canelo is a little frustrating because, I want him to unleash more punches sometimes. People take that as a sign he is gassed out and can't throw more. My conclusion is that he is just a patient fighter that wants to land his punch. He doesn't throw wild frenzied shots that leave him unbalanced. He isn't gassed out. That is a misconception.
A lot of fans seem to be banking on him being so tired after 6-7 rounds that he will be defenseless against Mayweather after that. It's not going to happen. He's have more than enough to go the distance and be strong throughout. Mayweather won't be able to run away all night. He's going to get hurt at some point.

i never thought Trout was that special. He has a tricky style to look good against, but he doesn't really do anything very well. The Cotto-Trout fight was horrible by both guys to be honest, Cotto just did worse. But with that said, it was a very good win and test for Canelo being that Trout was #2 or something at 154.
floyd mayweather, by virtue of his dub over cotto, has been #1 at 154, even if he's not a 154 lber. cotto was the second rated jr MW when trout fought him. other than floyd, who is on a different stratosphere and should honestly be viewed as a seperate entity in terms of guys earning the chance to fight him, cotto was the top 154 lber when he fought trout. trout was essentially the guy at 154, again, other than mayweather.
i thought it wasn't a total landslide, but alvarez beat him comfortably, getting out of the way of most of the jabs, and landing his power to win the balance of the majority of the rounds. ask austin trout who won that fight... he's an honest guy whose brains were rattled. he'll tell you what you need to know.
on bscene he was hyped to the moon as a backlash against alvarez (classic bscene tactic.) when he lost those fanboys / haters doing the hyping went two routs:
"trout sucked," or "trout won the fight, the fix was in."
But Canelo was supposed to get stoped and dominated!!! He wasn't supposed to be as good as a Trout yet he fought him according to you on even terms and pulled the fight out. And seriously fuk yourself with that lucky punch nonsense that was a perfectly timed counter punch that hurt Trout.
I know haters like yourself are gonna crow like Autistic children if Canelo loses to Floyd. I can hear it now "See I told you he was a bum blah blah blah blah blah". patting yourself on the back pretending that you know anything about anything.
Man up and just admit you were wrong.
Probably less than 5% of users on here predicted Trout would stop Canelo. I don't recall a single media prediction being Trout by stoppage.
So he wasn't "supposed" to stop him nor dominate him. Canelo was the favourite in the fight.
Seems to be the norm now. Canelo won the fight and earned his stripes. I'd even go as far as to say that the guy he's facing next has beaten anyone as good as Trout at the time they fought.
:haha: :haha:

Like most fighters that are being hyped up Canelo was ahead on the scoring cards before the contract was signed. Trout was down 12 rds before he entered the arena. Hyped up fighters like Canelo that branded the next champion are always ahead when there's a fight against Mayweather at stake. I had Trout winning the fight & if the judges wanted to be fair the best they could have did for the redhead kid was give it a draw. But as we know koney talks.......
I think Canelo is a very underrated fighter or else I have him overrated. I think he will defeat Mayweather. Trout is an excellent fighter and he still is. The Trout-Canelo fight was close with many scoring the fight for Trout.Any time a fighter be it Pacquiao, Canello,or Matthysse gets talked about as a guy that might beat Floyd,They will get some hate from a few of the Mayweather fans. They don't like to even consider that Mayweather could lose.So when Canelo beats a very good fighter like Trout they say Trout was never any good and take credit away from Canelo.

You might be taken more seriously if you weren't blatantly making sh*t up like this.
It bothers me that people are pretending that Canelo dominated Trout and it bothers me that people are pretending that Trout dominated Cotto.
It bothers me that people pretend the fight wasn't decided before the bell rang.
That was Canelo's toughest challenge to date since he didn't face anybody near Trout. Trout is still a solid fighter and Canelo didn't run away with the thing. Trout is not elite but I wouldn't be surprised that he would win another title
Trout was a good fighter with an awkward style. He was never a great fighter. The only reason Canelo gets any hate on the fight outside of the obvious, is that he did not look good at all in it. He looked winded early, and didn't have much output on top of it. Overall it was a good win, but not a good looking win.
Added - the atrocious scores blemished the victory. Had it been a SD or several cards with 115-112 or 114-113, there'd be much less outrage.

Trout is a solid fighter. Always was and still is a terrific fighter. Canelo, in my opinion, is still in the same league as Trout. Both of them have much to work on, but they both have tremendous amounts of potential in them.
