In hindsight I can see how you could feel that way but in 1999-2000, Corrales was a ****in animal. Garcia, Manfredy and Gainer got him were all good wins.
Do you realize what your saying? Is that a Top 5 P4P resume? I think you can actually argue Baldomir had a better resume coming in. What's more Corrales despite all the hype had a very weak chin and was probably knocked down about 20 times in his career.
However, you're right in that he was probably Mayweather's best performance and possibly his best career win.
Corrales and I actually have Hatton pretty high up. I know a lot of people didn't think Hatton was that good but he had some really underrated foot speed when he fought Mayweather. He was relentless and you could tell at times Mayweather was uncomfortable.
Who was it , where were they in their career, where is that fighter alltime to you
,Were they prime, were they p4p?
How did their career end up?
Oscar.
Corrales.
Marquez.
Mosely should be here too, but he was over the hill. So was Oscar, but Oscar could have won, and was closer to his prime than Mosley was when he fought him.
I actually think the Ricky Hatton win was a good win. Hatton was undefeated and in his prime. I believe he was number 10 p4p. The fight was rough for Mayweather all the way up to the TKO. I think up to that fight the only vulnerability Hatton showed was against Collazo. I picked this one over Marquez, who I think is better than Hatton, but that one was too one sided.
i agree with you on this as hatton was really pushing pbf to some degree that others did not attain
Definitely the Gotti fight!!!! Gotti was a warrior at the time and Floyd not only schooled him but beat the hell outta Gotti. Floyd wasnt that big then and he made a statment. That was actually the first time i watched floyd fight.

True, those were great wins for diego,
but i compare him to a GGG,,
GGG knocks guys out left and right, but i have a hard time putting him on my p4p list because i dont see defense, or stamina, and he has yet to beat an elite fighter,,
garcia, manfredy, and gainer good wins but none of those guys were elite,,, and around that time the p4p list was stocked,,

with freitas, casamoyer, corrales all being very close,,,
But its fine, if he was p4p at the time, i wont complain to much,, he was on a terror in that division.....
Why would Shane Mosley lie?
Why would Shane Mosley lie?
I have no idea.
How does he know?
Corrales has never stated as such and Corrales also said himself that the weight wasn't a problem.
This is actually the same interview where he stated that Mayweather and Canelo punch as hard as each other which is funny considering both statments are so clearly and obviously not true.
I agree with you on all points..
but it still flabbergasts me that corrales was a top 5-7 p4p guy... Yes at the time he was ko'ing guys left and right,,, but his skills were never that great,,, he was a helluva fighter, but never p4p material for me....

You calling Shane Mosley a liar? If Corrales was drained and had to lose 30 pounds in 2 weeks how good is that win?
Yes, i equate the floyd-corrales fight with the jones-toney fight..
great wins for floyd and roy,,, they are the pros that stay in shape,,,
not making excuses but both toney and corrales were out of shape for those fights,,,
still great wins for floyd and roy,, not their fault toney and corrales arent professional enough to stay in shape, especially with a huge career defining fight looming
When people have trouble making weight they move up. They don't stay at the weight and win world titles.
If you want to discredit the win talk about his legal issues.
Corrales was certainly not having an easy time making 130 at that time and he actually missed the weight and had to return to the scale an hour later to make 130.
But he wasn't dead at the weight evidently.
And he certainly didn't lose 30 lbs in 2 weeks which is of course physically impossible.
IMHO, his victory over Marquez... it was flawless... comin back out of retirement and putting on such a performance, incredible job! Marquez was #2 P4P at the time, lost a SD to pacquiao and won two knock out victories over Casamayor and Diaz before facing Floyd.... i honestly don't know where to rank him in ''all-time'' since i haven't seen that much fights of his.

Just off the top of my head....
but yes corrales was a beast at 130... i think he was 32-0 with 30 ko's going into the floyd fight...
its funny, corrales was back then what matthyse and golovkin are now. ppl dont remember this tho
You calling Shane Mosley a liar? If Corrales was drained and had to lose 30 pounds in 2 weeks how good is that win?
If you genuinely believe Corrales was 160 lbs 2 weeks prior to that fight then I don't know what to tell you.
I'd doubt he was even close to 160 lbs before his camp started.
Corrales may be limited but he was effective, especially at that time. He was knocking out everybody.
I can understand why he was P4P. Maybe not as high as #5 but still, he was doing well at the time.
