I think I heard somewhere that nearly everyone who gets in the ring with him says afterwards they're surprised by how hard he hits.
I mean sure you might not see big KO's but if you look at the state on some of the boxers after a match with him you can see they've taken the sort of hits which will hurt for days after.
People forget and thus underrate, how hard he 'used' to hit.
TBH now, I think his powers just above average really.
Mosely said Canelo and Floyd hit as hard as each other.
Personally in terms of the past year or so, I think as it stands Canelo's hitting harder.
Floyd's power isnt overrated or underrated,,,
He isnt a ko artist, but he still has enough pop to keep guys honest,,,,,
floyd has to break you down before he can ko you...
he doesnt have 1 punch ko power,,,
I should add to my point however that it is MOST casual fans who underrate Floyds power. There is a group of fans out there however who predict stoppages for every single Mayweather fight and THOSE people are the opposite. They drink a little too much Kool-Aid
Very Underrated! Relaying on fundamentals and defense doesn't mean you have no power. Mayweather is an intelligent fighter, who's set of skills doesn't revolve around power but all physical and mental strengths.
Yep I would agree that it is underrated. I think it's partly do to with his history of brittle hands. I think if he lets fly with everything he has he runs the risk of breaking his hands so he only lets go of a real hard one when he HAS to.
It's absolutely underrated. He was a puncher at 130, but he doesn't commit to punches since he's climbed up in weight. Doesn't take the risk.
Remember, if you commit to shots and sit down on them, you're exposed. He doesn't want to risk getting caught with a shot and knocked out. It's all about staying undefeated.
