I know obviously that its boxing and anything can happen, Rios is def a very very tough fighter btu hes a 135 or 140lber moving up to 147, he stands flat footed and keeps moving forward, my opinion is as long as Manny is still the same fighter (since that was a devastating KO he took from JMM and those kos can ruin a fighter) he will win by stoppage or a straight up ko by rd 8. Mannys foot spped is way too much his hand speed is as well and he has that power
Yes Rios is made for Pacquiao. He is just as big as Pacquiao. He can't make 135 anymore and Pacquiao probably could still make 135 easier than Rios could.I am sure Rios will weigh more than Pacquiao when they enter the ring.Rios is easy to hit and he never runs away or backs up. In that respect he is made for a quick sharpshooter like Pacquiao who can move in and out on Rios. But Rios is dangerous because he can punch and take a punch and he is a relentless attacker who keeps on coming at you round after round. The only way to stop Rios from throwing bombs is to knock him out and so far no fighter has come close to doing that. He can be out pointed as Alvarado just did. Pacquiao is not out to win a decision. He wants to KO Rios. Rios may be tailor made for Pacquiao but he is a rough tough sob and not a walk in the park for any fighter.
The jury is still out on that one. I wouldn't consider that a safe assumption. It's Pacman that's dragging his a$$ off the canvas. Rios is coming off a competitive fight that he can easily feel he won.
My point is it's Pacman that's in need of a victory. Rios can go about being himself. Pacman has everything to lose, Rios not so much. And no Rios isn't (tailor made). Rios has excellent stamina, must Floyd/Pacman opponents are not of that particular variety.
Only chance he has is throwing haymakers (with the right) non-stop...maybe he can land one and lay Pacquiao out. With that said, Rios by KO in 6.:boxing:

No. People are really underrating Bam Bam Rios, Manny has advantages and should be the favorite, but don't count Rios out, it will be a war, from the first bell to the last, and as long as Rios is standing he has a chance, especially if he figures out he can handle Mannys power and still come forward. It will be a great fight.
the same can be said for floyd with canelo but i reckon you wont be making a thread about that.
If Canelo is tailor made for Mayweather, who the fúck isn't?
He might be tailor made for Pacquiao of 09 but it's a dangerous fight for him today. You can see Pacquiao has been slowing down since the Margarito fight. The Margarito he fought was coming off a KO and a tough fight with Cotto. Rios put on 2 solid performances against Alvarado. This is a fight Pacquiao probably needs to take caution in but we know caution is not even in his vocabulary. He's gonna take the same risk that got him a KO'd in December. I expect him to win but no it won't be a beat down, and I wouldn't be shocked if Rios pulled of the upset.
YES! Pacquiao is at his best against Flat Footed Stupid Fighters!
Your hero, Mayflower, is not flat footed. He wants none of the one dimensional midget. He's scared. What can we do?
Only reason Margarito was hard though is because he had the size and chin to take the beating. Plus, even that Margarito is better than Rios.
Rios won't be able to take that beating.
Same size (weight, not reach), and Rios has a top chin as well. If anything, Marg was coming in with more chin questions. No doubt Marg is better, but even without the KO Pac is not quite where he was then.
You read what Hopkins said. sounded heartfelt, especially the "bad business decision" part
Same for Margarito, but that was one of Pac's most taxing fights, and he was in a much better spot probably both physically and mentally. It still took something out of him. The weight advantage will be about the same. Rios is not as good, but same ingredients

The point of the style matchup is that a 70% Pac should kill Rios. We need to get to around 40 or 50% Pac before I think Rios wins.
That's how favorably Rios's style is for Pac. He will literally walk into every combination and be too slow to do anything about it.

He's a lot closer to Glen Johnson, just with a 15lb advantage fight night. Not bright matchmaking for a guy in Pac's position, with major unknowns. But, if he is close to 100%, this kind of opponent will allow him to look extra good, I agree. It's just, Pac at 70% is a top 3 WW, but that might not get him past Rios. That doesn't mean Rios is a top 3 welter of course, though I'm pretty sure he's better than the last #3 welter Guerrero. How the heck did he get there, no clear cut top 10 wins?

If Pac is not shot this should not be a very risky fight. Even if he is a bit chinnier than he used to be, he doesn't take many flush shots to the head (as long as the opponent is not named Juan Manuel Marquez). If he is his usual self I don't see this as being very competitive. Rios is not a Barrera or a Morales.

Rios will take some chopping down. Pac doesn't need to be shot to get in trouble. It's a very risky fight for a guy in his position. If he has chin doubts, or gets leg cramps late, he'd be ok vs most top welters, but could get very scary vs Rios. Can't afford to go gunshy or rest on the ropes at all.

EDIT: I see bojangles1987 has pretty much covered my thoughts in greater detail
Its only risky if he's shot.
Pac has slaughtered, absolutely slaughtered, far better fighters than Rios. Margarito was better than Rios. Bigger, better chin, more active, better skilled.
Pac does not sit and brawl with fighters, no matter how much people seem to believe he does. He shouldn't get hit much. He should be able to use his far superior speed to dart in and out with incredible ease, and Rios has been hurt by far worse and lesser hitting fighters than Manny Pacquiao. Again, Rios only has a chance if Pac is gone, completely.
I'm very much looking forward to at least one more killer Pac performance. If this is his Roy vs. Tarver 2 moment, I'll be pissed because it will mean he's done and needs to retire immediately. If he struggles at all he should retire.
I think he can still beat a lot of top welters without being the whirlwind he was. He wasn't vs Bradley, and beat him quite easy on any sane card. He can't afford not to be vs Rios. If he is, easy fight. If not, very scary, maybe a brutal and possibly premature end of Pac.
Alvarado would be like Cotto on his bike when he fought Pacquiao. If he ran when he fought Rios, what makes you think he won't run the entire fight against Pac?
If flojobs just spend their energies convincing their idol, Floyd, to fight Pac there won't be any of these silly discussions.
always a conspiracy behind everything
alvarado would be an easier fight than rios for pacquiao
lighter puncher, weaker chin, doesn't press as much as rios
anyway, pacquiao's stamina has been a question mark for awhile now, even if he isn't shot, just his age and the pace the fight will be set at if he really plans on blasting it out with rios, if he can't get him out of there he could be in trouble late
All Alvarado would have done differently is run Cotto style after getting diced for a few rounds. That's probably why they went with Rios, they didn't want yet another fighter who would run.
