this guy was a nightmare for anyone and i mean anyone who would face him in the ring... 6,2 footwork and a southpaw... aw sht... with power... in his prime no one could touch him... he was like a middleweight muhammed ali... beat barkley, malon starling, and the body snatcher mccullum.... just imagine the fighters today ducking and dodging the guy,s i just named??? nunn was a hell if a fighter and you have to give him props that,s if some of the younger guys on here knows who he is??? i believe he would,ve beat roy in his prime... do any of you guy,s believe he gets the job done on most of these middleweights today???
Somebody deleted all of my rep power what ever that means. I was just sticking up for a prize fighter that was picked on and who was murdered and had nothing to do with this thread, Forrest was a good fighter and beat the champ when people thought Mosely was nearly unstoppable. Thank's alot man. Real classy.
I think Forrest Lived up to his potential but after beating the Man "Mosley", Forrest was KO'd by a guy he didn't quite know about "Mayorga", but by Forrest beating Mosley and I thought he won the 2nd Mayorga fight and should have got his belt back. But Vernon won the belt at jr.Middle too so that's not a bad career at all.
True, he had a great career but just not compared to other great boxers,,, Shane had a better career, so did oscar,,, Vernon made it to the mountain top but he couldnt stay up there if that makes sense,,,
and at 154 he lost to mora, but honestly could have gone either way, and i also think he lost to ike,,,
forrest' top years 2002-2006 were plagued by injuries,,, maybe his career would have been different if healthy,,,
grant it he still had a very good career just like nunn,,, But i think they never reached their ceiling for whatever reason
No one beats a Prime Roy Jones. NO ONE! I actually just watched Nunn-Barkley last week. A shame a fighter that skilled won't be remembered.
Steve Collins,Joe Calzaghe,Nigel Benn,Chris Eubank beats a Prime Roy Jones Jr. IMO.

Nunn was good,,,
I remember him being jones' #1 contender, and then jones vacating and going up in weight,,, I always thought that was kinda a dodge,, because jones-nunn would have been a big fight in the 90's and jones went up to fight 40+ year old mccallum in a not so big fight,,,,
Nunn had good skills,, could beat alot of guys,, he just never realized his potential,,, I still think he was really great,, him and vernon forrest for whatever reason, never truely lived up to the talents they were given,,,
I think hopkins would ko' him,, jones would have alot of trouble vs nunn,,, I think jones would catch nunn, but it wouldnt be easy,, nunn's jab and range would cause roy alot of problems,,
A prime Nunn would have sent Roy to the ICU. Who exactly did Roy fight in his prime, apart from unemployed road sweepers (while roided up to the eyeballs).Roided up??? Making up crap now??? Jones for ONE fight bought creatine over the counter at GNC and that was it and Richard Hall's tests were positive for a banned substance.
Everyone knows Toney was weight drained in that fight Einstein.Everyone knows that Toney was weight drained in fights before Jones including the Liles fight and he KO'd those guys so the weight drain excuse falls short. Jones fought over 11 current, former, and future world champions at the time.

James Toney who knock Nunn out in his prime

No way in hell does Nunn beat a Prime Jones. Nunn left his chin out a lot like Paul Williams and Jones would have snapped his head back with a number of shots till he dropped and stopped Nunn.
Nunn wasn't a defensive specialist or a huge puncher, and he didn't beat McCallum.
A prime Nunn would definitely beat every middleweight around today though.
No. I don't think so.
He can give everybody a close fight but he would not run through today's middleweight division. He would hold a title, but not all titles - that is my opinion at least.

I recently watched Nunn vs John "Iceman" Scully and I scored it a draw. Nunn looked hitable and Scully hit him throughout the whole fight. Nunn was not as elusive as people claim, he had his hands down and watch how Scully hit him, the scorecards were a joke. Scully took it to him.
I watched a few of Nunn's fights and I think he was a really good and skillful fighter, but honestly, I don't see it. I don't see how he would beat an ATG like Roy Jones, Hopkins or any other top fighters of other eras. It doesn't take an ATG like Hopkins to beat him, a really good fighter like Scully almost did it.
