Sure he was Al Haymons hyped fighter who got overpaid for fighting journey man on HBO, but regardless what you think of him or his flaws, the kid has no quit in him and has been humble to the fans. He went to war with Collazo, with Victor ORtz, with Guerrero, and with Soto Karass and never quit.
He tried to entertain only to get crapped on for getting knocked out, the kid is slurring the crap out of his words in the post fight interview for crying out loud.
Bert isn't an all time great by any means but his heart is one of the biggest in boxing whether we like it or not we have to be unbiased here.
Berto definitely has heart but it doesn't seem like he knows what to do. He doesn't have a identity in the ring. Every boxer has their own style but berto just doesn't seem to have it. He looks lost in there at times.
Agree, Berto is a warrior. All 3 of those fights he could have packed it in, and he come back to make them kinda competitive or had some moments. Now is he willing to go to war on undercards for much less money, or serve as a gatekeeper to well favored prospects? He's never been an underdog AFAIK
On here perhaps, Shotime praised him all night.
Personally, Berto lost me with his positive test for nandrolone.
This is the biggest reason why he doesn't get any respect, and I honestly can't defend it.
Still though, he's a roided up warrior. AKA Evander Holyfield.
Yup, I don't get it. for me I respect warriors guys who will go out on their shield, Berto never shows any quit in him at all.
Berto is a warrior but people never say oh damn what a warrior, they hate on him, I kinda feel sad for him, he gives his heart and soul in the ring only to never get any praise for it.

I've been one of his biggest critics from day one but it was more about not living up to the hype he was getting.
He definitely has the heart of a warrior though.

People love complaining about him getting million dollar HBO contracts, but he takes a beating like a man, and never runs or *****es out.
I want him on my side in a battle.
Hopefully we don't fight any Mexicans though.
