Dan is really a disgrace. Cant believe that a big platform such as ESPN employs such a biased writer that keeps disrespecting the majority of boxers.

Fat Dan is basically one of the worst people in boxing. Imagine someone spending that much time at fights and around fighters, acting like a fanboy calling them cowards. Guillermo Rigondeaux has faced more adversity in his life and career than Fat Dan can probably even comprehend. The only opponent this man has ever overcome is the local all you can eat Chinese Disgusting human being. No character. Not even a good journalist/writer. I think there's a lot of truth in what you're saying. So many people were talking mess about Rigo being an amateur and getting KTFO that some are still choking on crow. Most guys got over their mistake and acknowledged Guille's quality. A few holdouts remain. The hate is strong with them. A recent poll on Boxingscene asked if Rigo belonged on HBO or not. It was overwhelmingly in favor of "El Chacal." Looking at the very few names against Rigo was so predictable it was genuinely funny.

It's not just "a few die hard Cuban fans" that like Rigo. I've seen several polls and read enough posts to determine that his support extends beyond that. If Guillermo continues to win, more people will come over to his camp. Rigo will never be as popular as some other fighters, but he apparently generated enough interest to land a date with a top fighter after only eleven pro fights. The truth is, very few fighters have the attention of the casual fan. I don't see a problem with it. Rigo doesn't sell that is just how it is. Maybe it wasnt in good taste making a joke but it was twitter who cares

What upsets me about the Rigo types is they are totally self-absorbed. Fans would boo their heads off and his response is: what do you want me to do, get my head knocked off? That's the idea guy! People pay to see you FIGHT!!! Not prance! Do something!

Dan Rafael is one of the few that has balls to express his opinion. Is he partial to the Top Rank camp? Rigondeaux is still Top Rank...and still boring. Either way you cut and slice it, the guy is ridiculously boring. What's so difficult to understand about that? If you leave the guy alone he will wander around the ring for all 12 rounds and claim victory.

Who cares about this guy? Rigondeaux was entertaining in his last three fights, especially the donaire fight.

He does have a point entertainment wise....HBO will not headline his next fight but Rigo can be exciting like when he walked through Teon Kennedy

I have found Rigondeaux to be boring in past fights and have no problem saying it. But against Donaire I didn't think he was boring at all. He was masterful. When people talk trash about him for that performance it lets me know that they don't really appreciate true boxing. I can understand why some people find Rigo's brand of boxing boring, but the Donaire fight was pretty entertaining from a purely technical standpoint. I'm aware that I was likelier to enjoy the fight more than most, for obvious reasons; but I don't think I could've found that fight boring, no matter who was involved. Sure, it wasn't the most exciting bout you can imagine; but it was a pretty enjoyable exhibition of pure boxing. As you said, Guillermo was masterful. It's tough not to appreciate that kind of skill as a fan of the sport. I agree. I have also found Rigo boring in some of his previous fights but he was not boring at all against Donaire. In fact, whenever an exchange occured, Rigo was almost always the one that went on while Donaire was the one that backed up. At the time, I was surprised that Rigondeaux chose to exchange with Nonito. In hindsight, it all makes sense. Guille was letting his opponent know that he wasn't backing down and that he was willing to fight if Donaire was. To my surprise, and as you point out, Nonito was almost always the one to back off. Those booing Rigo were Donaire fanboys. If "El Chacal" was to be booed, then Nonito was to be booed twice as hard.

Everyone can argue all they want whether Rigodaeux is boring or not. He just doesn't have the killer instinct. Even when he troubled Donaire he chose to circle the globe trying to hide or something. That's when the booing started. Those are people we don't have any relations with. You can diss them all you want but they are the ones paying most of the tickets.
