De la hoya who was #1 p4p in 1998..against these legends
all these fights are at welterweight
vs Hearns (1981)
vs Chavez(1990)
vs Floyd Mayweather jr (2006)
vs Manny Pacquaio(2009)
Hearns beats him easily... All the advantages in the world except chin, but a 6'1" guy with Hearn's reach would land that big right hand all night... Excuse me, in the first few rounds cause it wouldn't last all night
Chavez is 50/50... Oscar had the advantage in speed, power, and boxing skill so he'd be smashing left hooks over his head all night, however he always fades late so Chavez's pressure and body work would have an effect if Oscar can't make a statement early
Floyd gets outworked... I know its a myth to say he almost got outworked by faded Oscar, but he really did do a solid job well out of his prime, so this is different. Floyd doesn't have Whitaker's radar/upper body defense, he's got a stationary defense. His power would have no effect on Oscar, and he would just get stuck against the ropes, a younger Oscar wouldn't stop the way the old one did
Pacquiao gets KO'd... Too short, too easy to hit, too naturally small... Prime Oscar's speed and power were comparable to Manny's and the fact that he was a much better boxer... I'd vote for a stoppage, but a decision win isn't out of the question... But definitely a win
I think he'd beat Pac in his prime, maybe have a shot against Chavez. But he'd lose to Hearns and Mayweather pretty decisively i think
He beats them all IMHO. A prime, hungry Oscar was a beast.
Beats mayweather by close desicion
Ko's PAC man
Beats Chavez by lop sided decision
Beats hearns in an absolute war.

Knocked out by Hearns.
Beats Chavez and Pac in two wars.
Gets the controversial nod in a close fight with Mayweather.
Good question.
Oscar still remains one of my favorite fighters ever. He was fearless and fought for legacy and that is why he will forever be remembered no matter what you haters think.
Against Floyd: He wins a decision.
Against Manny: He wins by stoppage.
Against Chavez: He wins the same way he did against the older version of Chavez. Hoya was too big, too fast, too smart, and too strong for the smaller Chavez. On top of that, he tended to cut up fighters who weren't pure boxers. He would have done the same to Cotto and Alvarez.
Against Hearns: He loses by KO. He would have lost to Leonard, who was his idol in the same fashion.

Assuming these all take place at welter....
Destroys Pacquiao
Chavez has a WAY better chance at jr welter, but beats Oscar in clasic war.
Oscar stops Floyd IMO prime vs prime
Hearns is the only one might SLIGHTLY favor over a prime Oscar. Very underrated fightger & never gets the credit he deserves specially on this site.
lol @ beating whitaker... he didn't do that....
oscar lost in every fight that ever really mattered, so he'd lose against all those guys.
Pfft....he beat the living hell outta Ruelas, and Chavez and had that memorable war with Quartey where he showed what he was made of. Those are the ones that mattered and got him the recognition among Mexican fight fans!
The rest were bonuses.
#1 P4P in 1998? Where was Roy Jones JR? # 2 to De la Hoya? I don't think so my friend.
