Would Pacquaio still have been the p4p king..if he had taken the 'Mayweather route'?

The p4p argument could be twisted both sides. There's always an argument to discredit each opponent these fighters face. 1. He's too old 2. (Manny,Floyd) already beat him 3. It was at a catchweight 4. He was damaged goods. 5. He was a bum It's pointless now arguing who was at the top of the p4p throne. It's a mythical list for a reason.

Andre Ward took Pac and Floyd outta the equation he's trumped both of them with his dominance in the super 6 no matter what, he'd be Ward would be p4p #1 right now Pac and Floyd's recent runs don't compare to Ward's no route either of them took could match Ward cleaning out SMW Too right, Ward is the true P4P king here. As much as I admire Floyd and Pac, they were/are pretenders to the throne.

yes, but he's also larger than pacquiao. marquez might as well ahve been a fly on floyd's winshield. maybe he was juiced by the time he got to manny, but there was clearly a size advantage in that fight that manny didn't have against marquez. shane was much bigger than manny. floyd and shane were indiscernibly similar in size. Even if any of this was true, how did size come into play in any of the wins?

Does anyone really think Pacquiao would lose to guys like Guerrero and Ortiz? He wouldn't let either go 12 rounds. He already destroyed Cotto who Floyd went life and death with. Yes, the 145 lb version, who didn't look the same after Margarito. This was confirmed by his trainer and the very reason they fought him in the first place, rather than taking on Mosley. Let's not even mention that he wanted nothing to do with the version that Floyd willingly fought at 154, right?

Pacquiao fighting a guy who had the style that gave him hell 4 times is enough to show he ain't scared of Floyd, and never was, while Floyd picks guys after hours and days of analyzing their style, that will be the easiest win for him. He avoids guys that will test his skills like a Margarito or a Pacquiao. Fighting a guy that has a similar counter punching style, except is much slower, has much worse defense, lower ring IQ, not as strong, slower hands, slower feet, not as mobile, who was completely shut out and embarrassed by Floyd proves that Pac isn't scared of Floyd? Roach said he knew he couldn' pull the trigger anymore AND got him at 147. Point is, if you are saying that about Floyd, everything and more applies to Manny as well. Pacman fighting Timothy Bradley is enough to show you that he has a better opposition than Floyd, Canelo is still green is he tough yes, but he doesn't have the caliber of opposition or ranking that Tim Bradley did at the time. How does fighting Bradley WW show he has better opposition than Floyd? Bradley fought at WW and didn't looked sluggish and beat a nobody. Yet he still did enough to make Manny look unimpressive in his " win" against him. Floyd dominates and KO's Hatton, who already won a title at WW, was around # 5 p4p, and fought a better caliber of fighters than Bradley, yet all the Haters can do is minimize the win and say he "dragged him to WW". If it applies to Floyd, doesnt it apply to Manny a well? Canelo has good skills, is tough, comes into the ring as a supermiddleweight, and can draw. Do you think Pac would accept a fight w/ Canelo @ 152? Do we even need to ask? Bradley was better than any single Floyd opponent, and Pac and Floyd fought similar guys, but Victor Ortiz and Guerrero are not on the level of a Tim Bradley. Wait, this a joke, right?

If he had taken the Mayweather route he'd been retired at least 3 or 4 times due to threats being posed by younger bigger guys. He would have never fought Clottey, Margarito or anyone in their prime.

No, I'm sure he would still be high on the list if he didn't lose to Bradley and got KO'd by Marquez. Whatever route he took to being dethroned has nothing to do with Mayweather. I thought the only route you take to being the best is beating what ever boxer is in front of you.

Ok..so Floyd was fighting Ortiz in Sep2011(who was damaged goods after his fights with Maidana)..while almost at the same time Pacquaio fought the #4 p4p Marquez...in a fight many thought pacquiao lost(including myself)..BUT what if Manny had taken the easy way out like Floyd and had fought someone like provodnikov or senchenko..he would have easily won no doubt. then in summer of 2012..Mayweather jr fought Cotto for the 154 belt(who was never the same after his crushing losses to Margarito and Pac)...while Pac took on the undefeated #7 p4p Bradley..losing to him..BUT what if Pac had taken the easy way out like floyd and fought someone like Malignaggi..he would have won then we all know Pac got knocked out by JMM..while floyd took on an unknown fighter Guerrero(who had fought most of his fight at lowerweights).BUT what if pac had taken the easy way out like Floyd and had fought someone like the then undefeated Rios..he would have won and remained #1 p4p. so it can be summed up..that Pac's bravery led to his downfall..while Floyd's shrewdness and cherrypicking led to him being #1 p4p What do you think? when mayweather pacquiao was actually being negotiated and it fell apart.... floyd went on to fight shane mosley.... who apparently everyone was ducking..... cos floyd was too scared to fight a legit ww, as was pacquiao.... guess who pacquiao decided to fight? you don't even remember..... why? cos it was josh clottey.....
