Does any one remember how stacked Don King's PPV used to be?

The card Golden Boy put together for September 14th is the best card I can remember in the last 50 years. If there was a better card I would like to know what card that was. King put on some great shows but I don't remember any King shows that would equal this one. Mayweather-Canelo is the biggest fight in boxing. Garcia-Matthysse is a dream fight. Trout-Lara is an even fight between two of the best 154 pounders and Molina-Smith is yet another title fight. They may have more good fights on September 14th that I am not aware of.Golden Boy did themselves proud this time. Yes, Don King was a great promoter. Tyson & julio caesar chavez on same card... Look at the biggest gates... Tyson cards were stacked!

Yep... I use to have a friend who use to get superchannel & all PPVs free. Tyson cards were always stacked. The 3 undercard fights would headline most cards today...

Of course he is in better health than most of the fighters he promoted, because while they were taking the punches he was sitting ringside taking their money He's 82.....I bet I won't live that long or be in that kinda health. Hell you don't see many ppl like him with great health. Actors, athletes, etc... The aging of boxers are due to drugs and booze....punches play a little role.

I remember them. Unmatched ppv events. Three or four or even more of the top p4p fighters on one card. Great times!

Talking about Don King, the guy is gonna be 82. I remember King had that one card with Hopkins-Joppy, Rahman-Ruiz, Spinks-Mayorga, Braithwie-Pineda, Alvarez-Burgos, while also having guys like Zab and the Simms dude that was getting alot of hype at the time

Sick card. The Nelson-Leija fights were very entertaining.

^^^ this it was normal to have these type of ppv back then. This has to be the worst era ever of boxing. I agree, back then it was never a question of IF they would fight, the only question was WHEN they would (and if they had any money left after the Don ripped them off)

Back in the times, it was easy. Fighters were keen to fight the best. True indeed, and they were also paid a lot less compared to today's boxing elites...

No, I don't, I was just a kid back then, barely a casual. I was actually gonna make a thread asking about this, since people always seem to bring this up whenever great great undercards are mentioned. What are some examples of his better undercards?

He was bad for fighters under his company but great for fans. I think a lot of it had to do with the public not as interested in smaller fighters as they are now TBF though. That pushed them on to the undercards because there wasn't enough interest for them to headline.
