It's obvious margs cheated vs cotto anyone who says otherwise is. Cotto hater or a margarito fanatic. Clearly cotto has never been the same fighter since and it's a sad story Bc b4 that fight he was a top 5 p4p for 2 years straight since the. He doesn't fight with that killer instinct which made him
One of the most feared and avoided fighters in the Sport just like Bradlleys trainer said on an article on this site so my question is do u think he would still be undefeated? I'd say yes Bc if he was the same fighter Roach would've never let Manny fight him in 09 and if he did no doubt miguel would've won I. My mind.
Hey guys I picked Margarito to beat him! He loses.....Oh Oh he cheated!
Cotto can lose to Clottey but not Margarito who beat Clottey? Want some sandals with your post?
WHAT?!?!?...read the post again when you're sober!!
I don't think Cotto would be undefeated....I picked Marg to stop him BRUTALLY in the first fight....I just might look for that thread and bump it because I BOLDLY said it was gonna be BRUTAL for Cotto...styles make fights and Marg's style is POISON to Cotto
with that said, I do believe Marg was loaded up for that fight....it's almost borderline dumb to think otherwise.....the rematch confirmed what many already knew though, Marg's style gives Cotto serious problems....his ability to take Cotto's best punch and smile at him while keep coming forward discouraged Cotto big time!!
I thought Cotto lost to Clottey but if everything played out the way it did except for the Marg lost....IMHO Pac would've taken Cotto's "0"

In what way, what do you think would be different?
Well for one, as I've stated in this thread a few times, I think he would've gotten that shot at De La Hoya in December that Pacquiao got and I have no doubt he would've beaten him, as De La Hoya should've been retired. It would've been a huge win and instead of being on the comeback trail, he would've been number one and an even bigger draw than he is today. Pacquiao might not have moved up to WW as quickly if the De La Hoya shot didn't present itself. A lot of things would be different.
Lets remember that Miguel still fought Manny Pacquiao and Floyd Mayweather. If Marg was never born he's still not beating them.
Those fights might have never happened if Cotto beats Margarito in that first fight. It would've changed the trajectory of his career.
I don't think Margarito used illegal hand wraps against Cotto. What is so obvious to you is not obvious to me. I think Margarito beat Cotto fair and square. He took everything Cotto could throw at him and stayed after Cotto until he wore him down and stopped him with legal punches and fists inside legal handwraps. After the Cotto fight Margarito took off his gloves and was hugging people and shaking hands and doing interviews. If he really had on illegal handwraps common sense tells me he would leave his gloves on and get the hell out of there before he got caught with"illegal handwraps".Pacquiao was a better fighter than Cotto and always beats him in my opinion at 145 or 147.If Cotto lost his killer instinct from one ass kicking then he did not have a good killer instinct to begin with. His killer instinct seemed to be alive and well when he fought lesser fighters like Mayorga. I think Cotto was and is a very good fighter but not as good as you think he is or was prior to fighting Margarito.
Margarito took it by beating Cotto in the ring. He got the Oscar fight taken away from him by politics and things outside the ring. Oscar promised to fight the winner.
His chin may not be that bad but it's not so great that he'd take 11 rounds of plaster bashing before going down. Also isn't the story that Margarito's wraps would take time to harden? How come he KO'd Johnson in 1 then? He also busted Miguel's nose in the 2nd round if I remember right.
Okay, so taken away from him in that sense, I get that.
If Margarito was busting him with a lot of shots in every single round like Johnson, Cotto wouldn't have lasted as long. He evaded Margarito for the first half of the fight or so, but when he tired, that's when he started getting touched a lot. Which matches up when the wraps would harden more.
Did he break his nose in the 2nd? If he did, he landed a well placed shot, doesn't mean the plaster wasn't hardened or in the process of.
To the bold, that's Margarito did to Cotto.
I though Oscar was going to fight Cotto if Cotto won, not the the winner of Cotto-Margarito I necessarily.
An ATG chin? No, but it's not nearly as fucking bad as some posters make it out to be. He's gotten buzzed several times, but he's been knocked down only by Torres, Pacquiao, and Margarito. He was hurt against Torres, but Torres pulled him down to actually get the KD. Against Margarito, he took two knees, not going down from the actual force of the shot. Going down against Pacquiao, one of the hardest hitters of all time? Yeah his chin is not that bad.

Margarito wanted the Oscar fight but Oscar went back on his word and ducked him. Instead, he sent in Shane to do his dirty work for him. Margarito was not enthused about the Shane fight at all. He had just had the biggest payday in boxing against Oscar taken away from him.
Or maybe he just made a conscious effort to start faster? If he was loading his gloves against Johnson and it only took a round to dispatch him why did it take so long to get Cotto out of there? Unless this is more arrogance/delusion to say Cotto has some ATG chin :lol1:

I though they wanted this fight for big money against a past prime fighter? Maybe my memory is wrong.

I do remember people saying he had to drop a lot of weight for the Mosley fight and that he didn't look great, but I've always thought he started loading his gloves in the Golden Johnson fight, the fight right after he came under so much fire for starting to slow and letting the fight get away from him against Paul Williams.. He came out like a monster and destroyed Johnson, who I'm not saying was that good at that point in his career, but he started much faster and had a lot of faith in his power.

What a surprise! Yet more misinformation. Margarito didn't choose Mosley, the fight was virtually forced upon him.
The Cotto fight was an easier fight for Margarito because he knew he could break Miguel's spirit.
As for why he....well actually Capetillo.....may have tried to load his gloves against Mosley - its well documented that Margarito struggled badly to get down to 147 for that fight. He partied hard after the Cotto win and had noticeable gained a lot of weight at the press conferences and throughout his training camp, they were using a faulty scale that showed him being two lbs heavier than he actually was. He looked pretty drained at the weigh in and came in at 145. Remember that he took a lot of punishment in the Cotto fight too, he probably wasn't in the best condition.

Nobody going into that fight though Mosley had a real chance and were fearing for his life, I remember more than one person saying they were afraid that could happen. Mosley did not show the same ability against Mayorga that he did in the fight previous to Margarito and right after Cotto.
I feel pretty confident in saying that Margarito took Mosley's age and recent performance into consideration as well before chosing him in his first fight after his biggest victory. His style is more problematic for Margarito than Cotto was/is, but I highly doubt Margarito would have picked him if he had annihilated Mayorga in 3 rounds and looked great doing it.
The Cotto fight was bigger than the Mosley fight and Margarito's chance at the big time. He wasn't gonna be denied again, by any means necessary.

I know. That guy is generally a good poster, but that post he dropped was just basura.
I've been on your bad side for a few days now :lol1: That fight was supposed to be next, Cotto wins, fight De La Hoya in megafight in December. Cotto would've beaten Oscar, as he looked terrible and would've lost to most fighters that night.
Maybe I shouldn't have stated he would've been the star Pacquiao became, but his career would've taken an entirely different trajectory. Bigger than he is now, which is the still the 3rd largest draw in the sport.
