Maidana would be down, but it won't happen. No one in that division has the minerals.
Maidana is 140/147. There's not much for GGG to do other than fight the likes of Canelo (wins by murder) Floyd (GGG win by KO)
I think he should fight Martinez, and with the belt call out Floyd.
his next fight is not on HBO, it's filler like Ishida. He should fight Mora or Stevens cause they seemed willing, just not sure if that meant willing for HBO money only
Yeah, I don't see them being that willing for an average payday but you never know.
HBO won't approve Stevens, Mora or Rubio, they already turned them down.

I've seen nothing that indicates that GGG is interested in going up to SMW. Matter of fact, I saw a headline here the other day that stated GGG is contemplating going down to 154. I don't think Ward would have a problem with fighting him, I think it's a relatively easy fight for Dre.
His trainer says they'll accept anyone HBO approved from 154-168. Ward was asked numerous times about fighting him, he's always been less than enthusiastic with his response (which has basically been "not right now").
He would smother Golovkin's work and outpoint him. Andre Ward isn't willing to take that fight next though, so he's not in the guts category.

Do you seriously think Ward is scared or would even lose to GGG
Do you see Ward signing the contract? Golovkin is ready, Ward is available. So you tell me.
Quillin won't fight him. He has a Showtime excuse now too.
Maidana gets dropped by Khan and Lopez bodyshots and he's not '54.
Froch won't fight him. Even if he wanted to (which I doubt), he won't be allowed to.
Chavez Jr. and Froch are fighting different opponents next. Ward has got a comeback fight and wants no part of him.

IMO the best fight for Golovkin is Chavez Jr. at middleweight. A lot of people have written Junior off after his positive test and bad performance against Sergio, but he has a big chin and a lot of power and he's a very big middleweight himself. It'd be an entertaining and fan-friendly fight to say the least.
It would definitely be interesting to see if Chavez's size would help him absorb GGG's devastating power. Chavez did look like he got stung by some of Martinez's shots and backed off a few times. He even said he felt Andy Lee's power didn't he?
As good as Govolkin is, Andre Ward would son him and make him look silly.

Froch's promoter is on youtube saying he wouldn't put Barker in with Golovkin and a Froch fight would have to happen further down the line - presumably when Golovkin is a big money star.
Sounds like his promoter needs tampon

Golovkin might have more options going up in weight since he'll be seen (rightfully or not) as less of a threat at 168. That division has a lot of great fights for him: Froch, Kessler, and Bute would all be seen as challenges at least on paper, and certainly some of those fighters might feel confident against a guy coming up in weight.
As for Golovkin vs. Ward, I don't really expect either guy to want to go that way since the hit to their popularity if they lose probably isn't worth risking for the money they'd make. Unless HBO dumped tons of money on this fight or made it PPV I don't know if they would want to make it happen.
For the glory, of course. Holyfield could have spent his career wanking around at cruiserweight, but he moved up to heavyweight instead. Sure, he lost some fights, but he made himself a legend in the process.
I'll take the Holyfield route over the Hopkins route any day of the week.
I think holyfield is great,,, but dont discount hopkins.. Yes he reigned for many years at middleweight, sometimes fighting smaller guys, but he did fight legit middleweights like echols, johnson, roy jones, mercado, allen, eastman, taylor,,
And then hopkins bumped up and took out a bunch of lightheavys in tarver, fought calzaghe, pavlik, cloud, pascal, dawson...
At one time you could be critical of hopkins but not anymore,, the dude is a 3 time champ at 175, 2 time lineal champ and did it all over the age of 40...
Hopkins and holyfield are both ATG
GGG would need to get a new pair of running shoes if he wants to catch up with Kid Chocolate and his many excuses for avoiding the fight.
Froch vs GGG would be good or even Chavez vs GGG would be good, but in all reality GGG is high risk for any of the 160lb division so he will probably have them all making themselves unavailable then NSB will b1tch he is fighting a scrub
Whoever suggested Mayweather is having a laugh. Mayweather crapped himself unbelievably about Pacquiao after Cotto got taken apart, could you imagine the sh1te he and his family would come out with if they mention GGG as an opponent. They dont want to even mention his name, they know, he doesnt even exist on their radar.

You're comparing apples and oranges. The Heavyweight division is the most prestigious divisions in the sport of boxing so moving up and conquering that division has more worth.
The same cannot be said for the other divisions.
