There's a civil war in Britain right now and it may be as revolutionary as the formation of the English Premier League over two decades ago. Frank Warren and Frank Maloney, at one time regarded as the two biggest promoters in the sport have joined up with new comers Barry McGuigan and Ricky Hatton to take on Skysports and its exclusive deal with Eddie Hearn.
How successful will the "Fab Four" be? Do any of these promoters have the fighters to propel Boxnation onto bigger and better things or is the channel on it's last legs? Many of Warren's top fighters have switched camp to the higher paying Hearn, who manages to put his fighters onto Europe's largest sports network. How can Boxnation compete with that?
The added advantage that Warren has with his own tv channel is that he can get the tv dates he wants plus he is able to show some of the biggest fights in the US. Recently Sky has lagged behind in terms of international shows.
Hatton has Murray who is relatively well known, Maloney has Price who is rebuilding after a devastating KO loss, McGuigan has Frampton and Warren has Cleverly and the now almost extinct Chisora. Is this enough to challenge the likes of Froch, Squigg, Barker, Bellew, Brook and co?
Boxnation will never win to be honest...
A lot of people who watch boxing don't get a sports channel to purely watch boxing... I have Sky Sports for all manners of sports...
If Boxnation was cheaper than the tenner a month that takes my sky bill upwards of £80 then i'd buy it, but I can't justify the tenner each month when 90% of its broadcasting is repeats.
this is the main reason I don't subscribe boxnation. I don't see the point. With Sky I get my whole sporting fix and enough boxing to be satisfied.

For uk fighters, sky sports beats boxnation hands down, no contest...sky sports have carl froch, david haye, ricky burns, kell brook, george groves, darren barker, tony bellew, brian rose and lee selby compared to boxnations nathan cleverly, amir khan, dereck chisora, david price, martin murrray, billy joe saunders and liam walsh...
But boxnation seem to have the better international fights like mayweather, canelo, hopkins, cotto, broner, martinez and rigo.
so i would say Sky sports 1 - 1 Boxnation, sky is better for uk fighters and boxnation for international.
Half of them are complete tomato cans.
They really trying to push this Brian Rose guy as World class?, he's garbage, barely a step above a clubfighter.
Bellew is a cab driver too. Barker is always injured. Brook is a ****** fighting cab drivers.
Ricky Burns is literally begging to be exposed (expect the Crolla fight after Beltran).
Honestly BoxNation have the edge right now.
those two are trash, will never make it big dude, that what I am on about
for the next 2 years until the guy in charge of sky sports boxing is fired, you will get bum fighters after bum fights, then excuses as to why the top fights are not happening
dude haye is very injury prone, you cannot rely on him at all
froch does not have 2-3 years left, mark my words, the wars will catch up on him, after kessler 3 he will fight low key fights if he want to extend his career
you cannot go head first and last long at the top, never, time will catch up
boxnation will win, quality beats quantity
Quigg and Groves are trash? Come on bro, both are future world champions, not necessarily divisional number ones but champions none the less. I don't see it any other way.
And let's give sky credit where it's due, they've given us some great dust ups over the years, in the last couple years alone there's been DeGale v Groves, Haye v Wlad, Froch v Kessler, Froch v Bute (great job in getting him over here) and so on.
This idea that Eddie Hearn is the saviour of British boxing is slowly being exposed.
Who has Ricky Burns been fighting since he went to Hearn? And now he wants to put Anthony "2 Dollar" Crolla in with him for the world title? :lol1:
Who has Groves been fighting? Who is Quigg fighting? Kell Brook is rematching Jones, Bellew rematched Chilembas. Froch won't fight Ward.
Yet Warren continues to get stick. He's putting Chisora in with Malik Scott and originally wanted Wilder. Cleverly is facing Kovalev. He offered Quigg big money for a fight with Frampton.
Nobody can really accuse Warren of protecting his fighters too much after he made that Kovalev fight. Cleverly is a pretty big underdog.

What are you talking about? Sky has just signed Quigg and groves, big stars for the future and putting Haye/Fury on will make some real money. Froch has another 2-3 years left at the top. Boxnation's big advantage is getting the big US fights but really, no one has to subscribe to the channel to watch them, if you know what I mean

I think boxnation will win it in the end, they just need to stick together, brook is going to be destroyed when he steps up his competition, there is a reason he has not fought a good fighter, the guy has no resume and avoids all the competition
froch is old, he has a couple of fights left in him, especially the wars he has been in, on top of that, he only really has kessler left
they have david haye but he fights once a decade
boxnation has the rest, they should work very hard in getting the top rank fights on their cards, if they do, then game set and match

Does Sky Sports have Jamie McDonnell now? Another good pick up for sure. Boxnation are best for international fights while Sky Sports have best UK fights.

Is there no way BoxNation can be put on freeview as a subscriber channel? It's difficult to reach the masses without a channel available to everyone.
Has anyone subscribed online to their streaming service?
Boxnation is a subscription channel, I'm not sure what you mean.
In terms of cards, I think both Hearn and Warren have put on great cards over the last 12-18 months, especially last night on Sky. They weren't the most competitive fights but we got to see a lot of British up and comers and got in some above average fights with Dodson/Smith and Crolla/Rees.

Well, I'm hoping boxnation come out on top, best value for fans plus they give up and coming fighters air time and help build their careers. Sky Sports/Hearn are only interested in established names. Plus whenever sky/hearn line up a big fight is it on sky Sports? No you have to pay extra again for a PPV. Boxnation is WAAY better valure. Oh and they just confirmed they got May v Canelo ;)
From my understanding of the press conference (didn't watch the lot), Khan's manager Asif Vali was supposed to be there; so we can assume Khan's future fights will be on Boxnation. Maloney is smoked, Hatton & Barry are newbies in the promoter game still.
Even though Adam Smith gets a **** load of hate, I quite like the Sky Sports boxing package. The Matchroom domestic cards are reasonable, and the weekly instalments of Ringside and Toe 2 Toe podcasts are excellent. I don't have a Boxnation subscription, but once they launch HD later this year I'll sign up on the day. The only thing I think is trash on Sky is Prizefighter.
If fish eyes keeps pumping on the big american cards, his subscription base will continue to grow. Good effort for an 18 month channel.
The thing is even if Hearn has the better stable we don't get to see them in good fights for the most part. So who cares? I'd much rather watch real world level fights on Boxnation. SKy coverage is pretty poor. I'd say Froch-Kes was good, but even that was Boxoffice
I agreed with ur earlier post, when Sky originally inked the contract with Hearn and Matchroom, they didn't have the stable they do now. It still confuses me. Now Hearn has the money to buy over the best and he has done that with Quigg and Groves etc.
It's still weird how Khan, one of the UKs biggest, if not the biggest star isn't shown on any major network here.
Looking at the rest of Boxnation, none of the promoters there have an exciting stable any more. This is the last throw of the dice for Warren.

I'll never understand why Sky jumped into bed with Hearn and swept everyone else to the side.
the darts, probably. hearn's influence extends outside of boxing.
Firstly, it was absolutely disgraceful of sky to kick out all the promoters and just give Hearn a contract. At the time Warren had a much stronger stable with Hearn having the likes Mccloskey as the headline act!
Boxnation obviously is suffering from a lack of funding so it's difficult to put the domestic fights on. The only way i see it being successful is if huge fights like Haye-Chisora are put on every few months. Then it could work out well, effectively like a ppv event but greater value with all the other fights on top.
Btw don't be suprised if Haye-Fury lands on Boxnation.
