Tyson easy ... At least in my world !!
In continents like Africa,Asia and south America it is like 1000:1 for Tyson
In Europe it is 55 : 45 for Tyson
In North America it is 55:45 Jordan
So the total is like 200:1 for Tyson
No contest
The first page is hilarious. One guy mixes up Jordan with Jackson then the rest follow like Lemmings incapable of reading the actual thread title.
Tyson is bigger though. It's a case of Americans over estimating how popular basketball is outside the US. Back when Tyson was fighting people across the world would stay up late to watch him. Do you think anyone outside the US cared when Jordan was playing? Almost 40 million people in Japan tuned in to see Buster vs Tyson. Do you think they'd give two ****s if Jordan was playing in Tokyo? Few people outside the US have even seen Jordan play basketball. More people probably know him from that Space Jam movie.
I see your point, Boxing is more mainstream outside of Usa, it's very possible that Tyson is more well known in outside of US.
However I think it's a very close race..in which the only person I would have no doubt about is Ali, I don't think any athlete is more known than Ali. In any country.
Well i don't know if you've realised this yet but the rest of the world is BIGGER then the USA.
You don't believe that Ghazan. Jordan and Tyson are global icons. Maybe both in the top 5 of all time. Id say Jordan is slightly ahead but both are behind Ali
Kids kids, tsk tsk tsk...Are you crazy, Jordan is hands down more popular than Tyson.
I know you are a boxing fan, and heck boxing is the only sport I follow mainly, but you are a fool if you think Tyson is more popular than Jordan.
I can go up to any kid in a school yard and say do you know who Mike Tyson is???Majority would say no, but I promise you even though many of them never seen MJ play, they would have atlest heard of him.
In the UK or anywhere else outside US if Michael Jordan was walking on the streets, people wouldn't even notice him.however, if it was tyson, there would be a stampede
I agree he would in America. But I'm not sure on a worldwide level that he is better known.

I understand what you mean.
Don't get me wrong, Mike Tyson is more better known than ANY Nfl player, and any Basketball player other than Jordan.
If I ask people in general about Tyson or Lebron,Kobe and etc, hands down Tyson would win, just not Jordan.

You're from America though. It's weird that though since in the UK where boxing is even less mainstream than the US most kids know Tyson.

I also got know people in Canada personally, but maybe they dont count sense they are similar

Aint no comparison between Ali and Jordan. It's Ali. You Americans thinks worldwide sport is like US sport lol. An awful lot of people in the UK wouldn't know who the **** Jordan is by name and definitely not by face. They all know Tyson however. Seriously, if I started throwing names like Lebron, Kobe and Peyton Manning people would be like dafuq? Worldwide, people like Lionel Messi are more well known than people like Lebron James. This is justified though because Messi is probably the best sportsman in the world atm. People like Federer and Nadal are more known. The list could go on and on. You have to consider that the US is unique in its sports really. Jordan is a unique case and is known worldwide but not as much as Tyson (especially by face) and nowhere near as much as Ali.

World Wide, Micheal Jordan, even USA wide Micheal Jordan.
A better comparison would be ALI or Jordan
