Lucas Matthysse officially had his fight with Peterson at 141, which is the WW division. Officially it was a welterweight fight so why isnt he a ranked WW?
Rankings mean very little these days. Its all about the $$$$$$$ies!
Paulie has one of the BS Titles how does Broner get a shot he's never fought a contender for that belt!!! Why.....$$$$$$$$$ies!!!! Whose belt is it? Seems like its Paulies...............for now!!!!
The younger fans today would have enjoyed boxing years ago when the mandatory defenses were up held! You knew atleast once a year the Champion of that Federations Belt would fight the top contender after the top 3 to 6 guys fought it out to get to the Champ!
The challenge would be to unify but that could be accomplished with? you guessed it more.............$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$ies!!!!! Its a money game!! Ray
Money talks. Paulie has a voluntary title fight. So If the offer from Broner was better than any other offer. Why not take it?
Brook, Paulie, Devon, Guerrero, and Thurman have yet beat a top 10 ranked WW tho
Lucas beat a better fighter then any of those guys have, at WW
Paulie is a champ at WW
Guerrero beat Berto which was rank at WW
Alexander beat LM
Thurman beat Quintana that it is better than anything LM has beat
Who diid Canelo beat prior to hatton? You dont understand my point because you keep saying the same thing. Either get it or stop replying with the same nonsense. Canelo made top 10 beating a WW in Hatton. Get over it already. Before that he fought Baldimor. The point is the fight was at WW, except unlike Canelo-Hatton, it was between the top 2 fighters from 140. Canelo fought 1 guy from 154 before he was ranked there and that was 60th ranked Cuello. And that was at a catchweight
You seem to be forgetting that Alvarez had always been campaigning at '54. So again, please enlighten me on the welterweight resumes of Matthysse and Pete before they fought each other. If you can't do that, keep trolling other posters. You've posted great/comical stuff on NSB before which is why I'm completely perplexed at how terrible this thread is.
To get ranked as a welterweight you have to beat top welterweights. Beating the 140 champ at a weight of 141 is not the same as beating a top ten welterweight. Lucas has no plans to fight at welterweight anyway. He wants to fight Garcia. His weight is perfect at 140 and he should stay there unless he is offered a Mayweather fight in the future. The WBC had no business ranking Khan at welterweight but then it's the WBC and they don't even follow their own rules. I believe they withdrew Khan's welterweight ranking.
The IBO have also ranked Khan at WW. I think Khan has now fought at WW, like Matthysse, at a catchweight.
I do get the point of what you're saying and the sad part is that you're starting to sound more like a stan with every post. Canelo had been fighting at '54 before he fought Hatton. And, gee, I don't know, Alvarez doesn't have a gigantic fanbase and boxing is the most genuine, organized, non-corrupt businesses of all sports -- so, I'm going to give you the benefit of the doubt despite your trolling intention with this thread.
So again, who did Pete or Matthysse beat at welterweight prior to fighting each other?

Ok obviously this is going right over people's heads. The fight officially took place at WW. We've seen this happen before many times. Canelo became ranked after beating career WW Hatton at 150. My whole point is why isnt he ranked (anywhere, i dont care where) if he just fought at WW?
Thats not the point, you obviously dont get the point im making because you're so stuck on a guy needing to campaign in the division

Still trying to figure out how a recognized champion isn't a Top 10 fighter in their division. The logic around this forum is entertaining nonetheless.
Belts dont make fighters better, especially belts that are given to fighters. Wins are what matter
Because Pete has a resume stacked with fights at WW, right?

While I am not a big fan of Lucas yet.
I definitely see him in the top 10 and I would accept someone putting him as high as 5. Those loses still count whether you agree or disagree with them.
So who was Peterson's best win? Since were playing this card, a shot Holt, Khan who most say Peterson lost to, since you say Collazo beat Berto, well Khan beat Peterson. Also ESPN type fighter Victor Cayo? Berto vs Collazo was close and could of gone either way. Yes, Bailey shot to the top 10 after he KO Mike Jones, whom was ranked in the top 10. Aydin was ranked in the top 10, should he have been, NO! But he was

Thats not the point at all. He officially had a fight at WW. Whether he plans to pursue it or not, he has a good win at WW

Berto's best win is a loss to Collazo.
Aydin was not a top 10 fighter in any sense of the word. His best win was also a loss to Jojo Dan
Bailey was not a top 10 guy either

Guerrero beat Berto, who is just as good, accomplished as Peterson. To argue Peterson is better or more accomplished than Berto is very subjective. Also Aydin was ranked in the top 5-10 in different ranking organizations, whom Guerrero also beat. Devon beat Bailey whom was ranked in the top 10, after his KO of Mike Jones.

Believe me I know bailey isn't really all that, other than being a massive puncher, but he did beat Mike Jones whom was ranked in the top 10 @ the time, than lose to Alexander!
Great... when is he going to fight them at '47?
